Thinking of switching from coco to soil...

Hi all. I previously have grown in dwc and coco. Right now my 2 day old seedlings are in coco in solo cups. I leave town sometimes for 3-4 days at a time. I am thinking of switching to soil to help with keeping my soil hydrated long enough during these times. Does this make sense? If so, whats a good soil? I have general hydroponics nutrients here already, and cal mag. Also, if i can buy iff amazon that would help since I am far from any hydro store. Thank you.

I used to shop at a nearby nursery
for bales of pro-mix or similar and would buy a few other items under the guise of landscaping
Ultimately met some pretty cool folks
Think outside the box on obtaining materials
Ya just might make some interesting connections
I think I paid double what I do now but the benefits were far greater
Good luck :peace:

I use roots original it’s a bit pricey especially not having a grow shop nearby and using Amazon but it’s great stuff. No fungus gnats.

I’m actually in the opposite situation. Thinking about going to coco from soil just for the cost savings. By the brick coco ain’t but $5/cuft vs the $35-40 /1.5cuft bag on Amazon. Only thing got me hesitant is I’m just now getting to the point where I consider myself reasonably competent and don’t want to have to redial everything back in :/

I tried using ffof. First grow wasn't bad a little better then NY very first rookie grow with MG. I just switched to nector for the gods #8. I'm two weeks into flowering and I'm not disappointed in the least. A bit pricy but it seems to be worth the $$

Nector for the gods is pricy. But the #8 is cut 50/50 with perlite and has enough in it to get you by for 3 weeks or so before you need to start feeding. I also added in a little dr. Earth 4-4-4 . I will not use anything fox farms again. I even switched to general hydroponics flora series nutes. Huge difference. Last bag of ffof had wayyyy too much bark and honestly felt like I was robbed of my money. I thought about making my own soil but I don't have the time. These little gals are in #8 using gh nutes and one mars hydro ts 1000 in a 2x4 tent in a freaking shed and it's 10 degrees out side. ( have a little ceramic heater in there as well)

I grow in coco and leave every week for 4-5 days, only home on weekends. I have automated watering, recirculating res with drippers. I won’t say I don’t get problems, but most grows are great, and need no outside assistance. i do have help to come in when needed and cameras to see what's up. Just automate what you have if possible, it’s the great part of hydro, you don’t really have to be there.

They look happy. Both available on amazon?

You have photos or info on your drip system?
