This is kinda scary...

The White House has asked the president of General Motors to resign. Now, there's something fundamentally wrong with a capitalist country that goes around telling private companies what to do... especially in terms of who should be in charge.

I don't like the amount of meddling the government has been doing in private companies' business lately... yes, GM asked for help, and it was like pulling teeth to actually get any, whereas banks (which don't produce ANYTHING) just had to whimper pathetically to get their handout.

Still, this is a troubling development....

What do you guys think?

The government sits and talks about how a capitalist society is the best thing and that is what America is. It sure doesn't look like it when their telling CEO's to resign. Even after the bankers throw the money around amongst their friends in front of the public and the governments eyes, no one says a thing. Or wait, there's a lot of talking, but nothing is actually getting done. Just some talking. They even threatened that if the AIG bonus getters have to give back their bonus, it's going to cost the New York tax payer more then what they actually received in bonuses. How the FUCK does that make sense?

Simply put: it doesn't.

This whole thing is frustrating and irritating. I can hardly believe the government is doing what it's doing...

And I think part of it is that AIG... all of those people are white-collar rich kids. Not the case with GM...

they can ask all they want as long as they don't force an issue or place there own person to run the co.
Don't kid yourself...THEY (OBAMA) didn't ask anything...he was TOLD to resign...make no mistake about it. Any and all major decision will now have to be run by and cleared by a pack of Obama's auto team socialists. We aren't just heading towards Socialism anymore... we're steamrolling towards it.

This administration is using the tactics of fear and uncertainty to grab power at an alarming pace. As a libertarian, I'm watching with sheer horror, as the Constitution of this great country is being used as a door mat by these TEMPORARY stewards of power.

Which is just the thing that should have been done in the first place.
For years, no decades the car companies have been ignoring the consumer. The majority of the consumers have been asking for more fuel efficient cars, especially last year when gas was hitting $4.00 a gallon.
What was the answer to all of that, GM decided to make 2009 the last year that Saturn will be made and they retain Hummer.

If you ask me, they should have fired the CEOs of both GM and Chrysler a long time ago.

The reason that Ford is still in the black is because they did listen to the consumer, and started working on cars that get better mileage and also earnestly started developing cars that work on alternative fuels.

GM has 60 days to get their shit together, Chrysler has 30 days.

If people wanted little rice burners they can buy them all day long. Americans don't like rice burners never have never will. We tolerate them. People want leg room people want power. If China wanted to break into the US Auto market they could make a killing selling a muscle car for 8k Nothing fancy just a kit car, exact replicas. Forget all this milage shit give me a '73 Charger that doesn't cost me my yearly pay.

Armed revolt is what they want Just wait. Don't go off half cocked, all pissed off. There is lots of opptions left yet. Let Obama go for a bit let him hang himself. He will and is even now. So just let it go.

Here is when we go: they try to take the guns, either forcably or by saying if you don't turn them in its gonna be prison for you. That is go time. They will do buy back programs and get lots. But when they say you must hand in your firearms I say "come and take them" This isn't europe and I am not giving my guns up like they did in England.

who the hell are all you people planning on shooting?

just because its an armed revolution doesnt mean that we roll up into the white house and waste everyone there.. we tell our lawmakers and people in congress what we want, and if they dont actually start listening to us then we will find others who will..

but an unarmed public has no say in a tyrannical government

Seriously man, that's a really idiotic thing to say. What do you really know about AIG? Know anybody in the insurance business? I've got news for you, they're not all rich, nor or they all white. Your statement screams ignorance. Many of the people that work for insurance companies don't even have college degrees! They're salesmen, that's it. The people that manage their finances and assests are the ones to blame here. And btw, there are plenty of wealthy do nothing's at GM!

The way i see it is that this country is going to rip itself apart with all this patriotism bull shit, as for Obama hes just pissin off more people and heading for an assassination. If they would have pumped the money into the citizens we would be back on our feet again, think about it we are the ones who buy everything we put the money into the banks for loans and what not. Instead they went ahead and gave it to the big companies which doesnt do shit as you can see, I see it as rather simple but i guess thats politics for you.. dumbasses thats all they are!!

It's all part of the plan...don't worry...your worst nightmares will become reality in many cases. These are times to think before you act & be aware. Fear must be faced without fear.

Someone has to do something since the Bush regime did nothing to regulate these captains of industry. For years the corporations, banks, wall street, etc have been on the money train, now they're crying for help, social bailouts. I say, either let them fail (Bankruptcy) or shut the fuck up when the government wants some control with their money. I believe all those with the power before the bailouts should go, no parachutes, no bonuses, in fact a letter of failure should accompany their resignations, stuffed into their resume's along with all those phony accolades.
