All light bulbs produce heat. If you are being serious than you have never used CFL's before.Hersey Burn this man at the stake, everybody knows that cfls put out not heat.
True enough. My old veg room would shoot up to over 90F within ten minutes, with just my CFL's in there, without serious ventilation. OP - your plants don't "know" they will get burned if they go higher. Ask any of us who have had burned plants, because they grow right into the damn light. lol Either it was coincidental, or you might have a heat issue. If the temps are too high at the canopy, that will slow growth down. Typically though, small wattage CFL's should remain approx. 2" from your plants. All light bulbs produce heat. CFL's put out MORE heat than a HPS setup, because they are not as efficient as HPS. Put six 75 watt CFL (the 500 watt incandescent equivalent ones) bulbs in a box and record the temperature before and after, you'll seeHersey Burn this man at the stake, everybody knows that cfls put out not heat.
Off with their heads.... Let it be known that CFL's put out no heat and the world is flat.CFL's put out MORE heat than a HPS setup, because they are not as efficient as HPS. i used 6 23watt bulbs and had them anywhere from 1-2 inches. with a fan blowing directly over the bulbs the heat was dissipated very fast. I would move them up once the plants touched them. the bulbs were cool enough to the touch that they didnt scorch my plants.can someone tell me how far my 42 watt cfl's should be. ive been going back and forth from 6-12 inches
ballests for HPS get very hot too. Difference being they can be placed outside the grow area, so do HPS generate less heat in the room than CFL's?I leave mine on 24/7..i could touch them allday. Its the ballast that get hot.
