This Questions Hard To Explain...?

Alright so I'm starting a new grow, in a 3ft x 2ft (h x w) and decently deep cabinet, I'm starting a SCROG actually, or what I hope becomes a scrog. So my question is, since really my height requirement is limited, would I be able to have a bigger plant, but with a smaller pot? Instead of a bigger 1.G pot, Could I use a horizontal growing base instead of a regular potting pot? When I say horizontal I mean like, a cat litter box or some sort of recycling bin.

Would it cause the plant any harm? I mean all its really doing is making the roots grow out looking for water instead of growing deep. Does anyone think this would cause the plant any harm? Or more importantly my scroging plans? lol

btw if anybody cares or wants to follow my new grow, Ill post a thread think up, Im doing a Bomb Seeds - Ice Bomb in the 3x2 cabinet set up in a scrog, and a 60 Day Lemon Auto .

Let me get this straight. You're asking if it's ok to use a "shallower" container with a larger "footprint" (instead of a typical "pot shaped" container)?

The short answer is yes, it's ok. The longer answer is "within resonable limits". The "feeder roots" will spread out into whatever space is available - not a problem. I can't really say how the tap root will react! My guess is that the tap root will adjust and be just fine. A kitty litter box might be a little too shallow - just a guess!

You will have a much larger surface area, therefore much faster evaporation, so you will have to be careful to keep it watered properly.
