thoughts on a fluorescent / cfl grow

Ok, So i have decided to set up my closet for a first time grow.

Closet dimensions: 2'-6"W x 4'-5"D x 10'high

My apt. gets pretty hot and I have no control over it, so i want to go with a fluorescent or cfl grow.

I havent bought or done anything yet b/c I might go with a hps system, if i can figure out how to keep the temp. down.

First of all, I want to apologize if some of my questions seem elementary ...I have done some reading, but I dont have any exp. with this yet.

Ok, so my questions are

Should I even bother with a fluoro or cfl grow system? Are yields/potency drastically different with a hps system?

How many plants can I get in there with how many fluoro or cfl lights? I already have a shelf at 5' high in the closet so i might be doing a double tiered system one for vegging and one for flowering.

Does this room need alot of Ventilation? If so, will I have to cut a hole in my closet to vent air out?

If anyone has any good links to forums with a really good fluoro/cfl grow closet design... please post them

hey man i heard and im sure u have too, that hps is way better, ok but look what im doing with just 4 23w cfls im at day 51 into flower, im groing 2 plants. and i built a easy simple grow box, but i do wish i had bigger room to get bigger plants in, but yeah this is what i got going, its my first time so i dont kno how my yeil would be like yet more looks ready good last picture was taken few weeks back but thats them inside the box

i think im going with a CFL grow box ...even though its not going to be in my closet anymore i still cant risk the heat

yeah man, build a grow box, get your self some computer fans , put the intake fan lower than the outtake fan makesure ther on oppisite sides of one another and you will be fine, howmany plants do you want to grow??

Dave are those 51 days from Seed or from Veg?

51 days in flower, and also the smallest plant is only 51 days old since she sprouted wen i started the bigger plantt on 12/12, big plant veged 3 weeks before 12/12

cfl's are good for smaller plants, i would suggest some cfl's on some of the buds whilst you flower with a hps. just get a good vent system. cfl's are only really worth it if their put close to the plant. 3-4 4ft plants would be swell in that space

I've heard of good CFL grows. Heard mine 'aint that bad, & I tend to agree. Thinking about using LED's next time, too!

I heard LEDS suck badly.

Even if you are just adding them for more coverage?

lol I would think if they suck they suck regardless of the app.. Kinda like trying to grow weed with christmas lights I imagine lol.

Actually, it is just like growing w/Christmas lights! I understand your "if they suck, they suck," but things can be a bad idea by themselves, but a great COMPONENT to a bigger project

Them shits do suck, I saw a video on You tube the other day and the guy did a side by side grow and time lapsed it and the results of the 90w LED's were shit compared to the 400w HPS.

I just found a cabinet to grow a stealth box with! its 3'x2'x6'H ...its about 50$ used. Ill probably pick it up tommarrow. I am now thinking of doing HPS for flowering ...MH for vegging.

would one 400w hps be good in this space?

I also have to work on ventilation ...any suggestions for a 400W HPS?

also whats everyones opinion on CFL's vs. MH for vegging?

Dave i'm not sure yet how many plants ...I guess that all depends on what system I go with ..I'm thinking of SOG or SCROG
