thoughts on molasses?

So my friend was telling me to feed molasses to my plants. He said it would make the buds weight more in which is a higher yield.

So I was wondering, if this true and also won't this attract ants/bugs?

Some swear by the stuff.
Did 3 grows of same strain. First 1 with out and the other 2 with. Didn't see or noticed any increase or difference.
Give it a try. Your results may differ.:peace:

Molasses feeds the microbes in the soil allowing the plants to better use supplied nutrients.
Many use it in the final weeks to sweeten the taste.

It is true...it is a carbohydrate....food for the plant. Dont go apeshit with it but a teaspoon every so often does the job. In fact many ORGANIC NUTES have mollases in them....just so you know! If your grow room is clean you shouldnt have ants or bugs anyway....if your outdoors...not a dam thing you can do about ants and bugs. But just another tid bit....Some bugs munching on your flowering buds...well its like signing thier death sentence....it kills them dead as dead can be!!

I use it in the veg stage as well as the flower stage. Make sure that it is UNSULPHERED molasses.

I did a controlled study years ago with g-13 100% indica. Half the batch received molasses at a rate of 1-2 tbs per gallon of water and the other half did not. Based on my numbers the batch that received molasses treatment had an augmentation of yield by 8% and the taste was better than the non molasses treated plants. All the bulbs in the flower chamber were new. Clones were taken from the same mother. Still to this day I use molasses in the 3 week of flowering till I am about to flush.

And there you go!!!!!! :-)

If people feel they want to feed the soil a bit, it wont hurt.. but dig this..

If you really think you are feeding microbes, then a VERY SMALL AMOUNT will do it..

Molasses is VERY acidic.. I have seen people destroy their crops towards the end not compensating for this fact.

If you use it PH PH PH PH .. I can't say that enough.. if you use Molasses on top of ferts which are already acidic too.. I'm telling you.. if you use it, use it sparingly (how much does it take to feed a microbe?) and PH PH PH.

*steps off soapbox)* Thank you for your ear.

I use it for bubbling worm tea. I've never went above 1.5 ounces of molasses in a 5 gallon bucket with a ball of worm castings inside a panty hose stocking the size of a softball. Aerated for 24 hours. I had to experiment around with my well water which is about 8.3 PH. Usually ends up between 6.0 to 6.3 PH after bubbling 24 hours. I try to keep my worm castings in the 6.5 PH range with blender ground egg shells. I think this is the best way to use unsulfered molasses, using it for worm tea >

I don't use none of the other additives Bruce Deuley recommends, only worm castings and unsulfered molasses , and bubble stones.

I think molasses is the same as just feeding the plants sugar, the plants like some sugar in there diets, so they are not trying to store it, but have the extra available so they make bigger buds with it ! because a happy plant is a big plant, like a jolly fat man eating his dinner lol .

I use molasses every two to three watering's at 1 tbs. per gal. Everything else the plants need is in my soil.

No, it doesn't sweeten my buds, but they do look frosty.

my thoughts-
Molasses is Great for the Microbes.
People get carried away with it, like everything that's good you use it to much, and it's becomes a bad thing.

Thats exactly right...I dont know why peeps seem to think that more is better!!! I use nutes in very small increments...the plant will tell you what she needs if anything at all.

Ok so for my grow I'm outside in 5-7 gal smart pots. One of my plants is flowering, currently started like aug. 1st. I don't really do anything to them besides feed them nutes at my own measurements..
The plants are looking great and all, but since I don't check PH or anything, would using molassus be ok still if used in very small increments? cuz I don't want to go all crazy and have to test stuff ect.

I use Buzzard's for the flowering plant which is 10-30-20 I believe.

Also, random and off topic but the plant that is flowering has brown blotches on some of the leaves. I assumed it was due to either nutes splashing on the leaves or nute burn so I cut back and haven't fed
it anything it's passed two waterings. Any thoughts? I know you can't help much without pictures lol, but I recently broke my phone so I'm screwed. The blotches are rust colored. It's not on any more than 5 leaves I believe.
Also, a few inner leaves are yellowing, but I'm again assuming it's due to flowering? This is my first grow, so I'm reading constantly and asking questions..
