Thoughts on the Res chiller ?

sup everyone! Newbie here, spent lots of time reading on here and I gotta say, loving the vibes, and all the info.

Today's question is : Do I need a res chiller if I can control my room temps? I've read a lot about how important water temp is, I know I'll need one in the summer, but what about when it's cold? I can control the temp around the tent quite well , my concern is that the lights may warm the water temps , thoughts ?

Without chilling your water, the temps will be the same as the room...roughly. If you were to insulate your system and use frozen water bottles, you might be ok.

I don't have a chiller and the tent gets hot sometimes but it hasn't given me any problems because I change the res regularly, I use multiple 5 gal buckets. If you just have one big res it might be worth getting a chiller.

In my experience light causes more problems than heat. Wrap a couple of layers of duct tape around the res will block out light.

Keep your tent cool you dont need a chiller. Got cement floors? Recirculation can drop it a few degrees. Might be just enough.

In the winter my buckets are around 60F

My room is around 70F.

I grow in the basement tho and the floor is cold.

Guys, I forgot something, I'm gonna be running co2, the temp inside my tent will be kept at 80 degrees f, with that said, I think I will need the chiller as I'd like to keep my water temp no higher than 68, agreed ? Thank you all

Use hydroguard at 2 mil a gal. and a pinch of pond-zyme with barley you'll find it at pet store that sells fish. ever since iv made the switch my temps can hit the low 80's and iv had no prob nice white roots. happy plants.

example; dwc 3gal in a 5gal bucket. change every 3 days.
or lets say a 40gal rez under one light change every 2 weeks unless they are super feeding then maybe as soon as 1 week changes.

it will give you worry free growning

what is your choice of nutrients, i suggest if your new to all this start with a complete one part nutrient. that way you know its got a good blend of what it needs.
