okay well i got 2 strong blue leds wired up to a usb and im using it to start the growing process of my little plant. haha
right now it is starting to get its first 2 leaves but have bloomed that far yet.
so do you all think the 2 leds will work for a small period of time?
like i know that i will need to up grade lighting at some point.
but do you all think tthose 2 leds will do a okay job for now? till i find a better source ?

From what I understand most people saying. LEDs are a waste of time and money. Use CFLs or actual floros before you bother with LEDs.

Yeah, no offense bro. I made a similar mistake and bought shitty walmart 'growlights' Now I'm struggling through this grow until I can afford a HPS light. It's the most effective. You can use CFLs or Regular Floros but they're not as effective by a long shot. Some swear by CFLs but for the price you can have less hassle and more bud, haha.

I got a LED spotlight kinda bulb that I paid like thirty bucks for. It did a reasonably adequate job for the first few weeks when the demands of that little plant are so low already you could just about grow them with a candle light (exagerating to make a point) after a couple or three weeks you are going to need something else. CFL's or flouros will work if that's all you can afford. HPS or sunlight will work much much better. Your choice

well i mean im just using it at night till the sun is up. and i didnt buy the leds so i didnt lose anything.

Well buddy. Are you strapped for cash or do you have a little you want to invest? Lights make a big difference, as I've learned very very quickly

Well. I'd suggest you use CFLs, if you're low on cash. Don't expect great yields or a bunch of plants. This was posted by a buddy. Here ya go

Sorry bro. LED's are better PAR producers than cfl's. I just spent 1200. On 500W Blackstars and believe me there's no waste at all.
Don't knock it till ya tried it......

...but they aren't cheap.

Ok. Well lets get you going with some CFL lights. You want 100watters.

So buy yourself a six pack of 100 watt CFL lights rated at 2700k That way you can use it to veg and flower. There are adapters to make those lights fit into a plugin. So grab an extension cord, a few of those adapters and a cheapo surge protector and you're set. You can get it all at wallyworld and you'll be out maybe 30 bucks, I don't know how much you can get the lights themselves for but everything else is cheap as hell.

I'd imagine for the cost you could get better bang for your buck out of HPS or MH setups. I could be mistake, and it's completely likely that I am, but 1200 is a big investment for a lot of people.
