Just thought I'd share a few pix of my small setup and how I grow using hempybuckets.

I like to start my clones in jiffy pellets under a dome until roots show then put them right into 16 oz hempy cups. Water and b52 only for a week until they start to take off.
They seem to suffer minimal stress this way. Water every day until grow takes off.

I then bring them down into my little cabinet that houses a 150 hps and 3 T5 lights.
I start to feed them 1/4 strength nutes and b52.
Once they get about 8-10 inches tall, I lst them and let them veg for a couple of weeks.
I up the nutes gradually adding fulvic acid to the mix and b52.

After they've filled out nice I put them into my flowering section under a 400 hps.
I find that with a 400 hps it works great to train the plants, because the light penetrates right to the bottom creating nothing but bud.
I currently have a perpetual garden with plants in different stages of growth. Approx every two weeks I harvest a couple. That keeps the wife and I happy and pain free.

You gotta admit there is nothing more therapeutic than raising and looking after your girls.

Wow, Hempy seems really easy. Are the yields much worse than using a DWC bucket? What are the cons of using Hempy? If anyone can explain it.
I've done both and won't go back to hempys. Perlite is messy shit, you have to have the pots sitting in something when you water or move them to a sink, and when the plants get bigger and in full flower they have to be watered daily, unless you have small plants that don't drink much. The yield is better in dwc but not by a huge margin. Dwc is way cleaner and way less of a hassle to me. Just my opinion, some people might prefer hempys.

Hempys

I did hempys a few years ago, perlite messy, to much watering and loads of run off everywhere, started to smell as well for some reason, got more off my soil grows, plus though it is cheap.

I've never tried dwc before but I've heard it's an easy way to grow. To me, hempys are as easy as soil, but produce hydro Yields. I put on a dust mask and wet the perlite down first when potting. Other than that it's a pretty clean system. As far as transplanting, I like to cut the bottom of the cup with a sharp blade and plant it just like that. There is no shock and the root system fills the pot nicely.

I have a buddy who grows soil and his grow is far messier than mine. Perlite sticks to your fingers when wet, bought the only messy thing I can think of. And runoff is part most systems except DWC, am I right? As bmaster said this grow practically grew itself despite my noobish efforts at hindering it. HaHa. It is really easy and cheap and effective. I will say that the stuff by buddy grows in soil tastes and smells better than my other buddys hydro. Dont know if this is cuz of the soil or what, but it is noticeable.

Pretty much any active hydro system has no run-off :) with a good hempy my plants used to only need water once every 3 days with 50/50 perlite/vermiculite, I cut my drainage hole about 2-3 inches up and use 10l pots.

And the taste would only really be much different if the soil buddy used organics, if your using chemical in soil it'll taste the same as hydro, maybe marginally different.

Oh and this'll blow your mind lol you can run a hempy bucket with soil and do organics with all the benefits of the passive hydro and the taste of organic. Just mix your dirt with about 60/40 - soil/perlite or 70/30 - soil/perlite. If you follow the watering cycle of: Water - Heavy water - Feed and repeat. That way the few inches of res doesn't get gunked up with organic and stays relatively healthy as it's pretty much being cleaned out with fresh oxygen rich water and nute solution every 3 days.

And nice buds Stoneslacker! saw em in the 250 thread (i think) :)

Edit: just to show my last hempy grow :)

Nice bucket-of-buds you have there matchbox. I'd never thought of soil hempys, might be worth experimenting. Always looking to try new things. I use 4 parts perlite 1 part vermiculite. Keeps it nice and airy and good wicking effect

lol thanks :) 1st grow is always the learning grow XD though all my grows are learning grows 'cause I can't stick to doing 1 thing.

Your grow looks pretty sweet too man, only thing I would do would be tidy it up a bit, get a neater, larger screen and general optimization, you could happily fit 4-6 plants in there, I'd say 4, 1 per 1/4 of floor space and make the screen the size of the entire box maybe veg a bit more to fill out the screen.

The strain is AK-48 (potentially a 48 day strain) Mine was done in 7 weeks or so but could have gone another week happily.
