currently the rash does not ich, but it was very uncomfortable for the first few days, and a burny ichey feeling was part of it. almost an ich you just cant get rid of.

between me and my partner...for three trips out...we picked off near 70 ticks...

I've had lymes disease 5 times in my life, starting when I was 7.
catch it early and get your ass on some meds and you should be ok. But if left untreated you are in for a shitstorm of lifetime issues. if you have it really bad your doctor will make you come into the office everyday for an IV drip (that was tons of fun let me tell you!)
Permethrin is the ONLY THING that keeps ticks away. DEET does NOTHING for ticks.

Excellent advice guys. I pulled several off last summer. The first thing I do when I get home it jump in the shower and check myself beforehand. June and July are by far the worst months for them.
While great for mosquitos, I've read the same thing about DEET being ineffective for ticks.
