Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty announced his decision to run for President of the United States. This should have been cause for concern for marijuana reformers and medical marijuana patients, and today that concern was justified.

Good. I wasn't gonna vote for that needle-dick anyway.

He has no chance of winning, btw. In case you were worried.

We are all losing the Medical Marijuana programs in states that have it. They are either trying to repeal laws or making new laws that make it impossible to grow or buy it. Jan Brewer is just the latest example of this assault on Medical Marijuana. They do not care what the people want or the benefits or MM. It's time to fight now or we are going to lose what little ground we have gained.

You got a good point, Arizona, New Mexico, and New Jersey especially not looking good but be careful how you use the world "all" - Michigan it is pretty much impossible for them to take it from us or even modify it much, oh how they try and try again but our laws are setup to protect us on many levels, essentially our laws prevent them from doing anything, its put completely in the hands of the people, additionally there is layer after layer of marijuana user/grower protections, too bad its still federally illegal though.

I don't see Colorado or Cali losing theirs either.

Michigan voters made it clear that they support medical marijuana when they overwhelmingly passed the 2008 initiative that was spearheaded by MPP’s campaign committee. But since then, legislators in Lansing have proposed several bills that would undermine that law. Two recently introduced bills stand out as examples.

A keystone of the Michigan medical marijuana law is patient privacy, but last week Senator Darwin Booher introduced SB 377, which would require the names of cardholders to be sent to the Department of State Police and delete privacy protections. The law already allows police to verify patients’ ID cards, so this bill needlessly jeopardizes privacy and treats them like criminal suspects.

Equally outrageously, yesterday Representative George Darany introduced HB 4661, which would make it a felony to cultivate marijuana within 500 feet of a school, daycare center, or church. Rep. Darany says his intent is to prohibit “marijuana clinics” from being located next to these establishments, but as written, the bill would apply to patients or their caregivers, even if they are growing in their own homes!

I don't know about Michigan, but I know that in my home town near the urban areas churches are on just about every street corner. People of the ghetto I think need to confess more or something, I don't know. Anyways, technically by American law, your grow house could be considered a church if you met the right criteria, correct? Besides, what ever happened between the seperation between church and state?

It is fascinating how politicians dodge this issue. Dems less than Repubs but it still comes down to "well I defer to law enforcement". and the issue is given about 7 seconds total. Never mind that law enforcement has an agenda and marijuana is just a wonderful gift to law enforcement - it is easy to bust, easy to villainize and it makes the police gobs of money. I'd love to sit down with some of these slicksters and have a real debate about this stuff.
