Time Machines

I didn't get a chance to read the whole thread but peacefulkid is right about time travel. Professor Ronald Mallet of the University of Connecticut has written a book (The Time Traveler) and is based on a lifetime of research. I took a course at a Community College here in CT by one of Malletts colleagues' and the two have a machine that does indeed time travel. The device is able to send light back in time. The machine would be of no benefit to the past as you would only be able to transport back to when the machine was first activated. Todays youth would be of most benefit for as they grow older, Malletts machine would allow them to travel in their own lifetime. He is a long way off from proving time travel for humans but he has most definitely proved that it is possible. This is a rather big discovery and his book is about to be made into a movie. I highly recommend this book, it is a fascinating read...

Changed to Time Travel Sorry my mitstake
So i was doing some research and found out these times machines excist but not for the world to use yet , im calling all science geeks to the stage. Leave ur opinions , i hope there is some real science people in this page :)
If possible i would make one to the past and go to the 80's lol but at this moment they arent sure about that.
got an opinion say it!

you would go to the 80"s you are thinking too small.

The closest you will get to time travel is Eisenstein law of relativity

I don't want to go in to it but if you leave earth in a space ship traveling near the speed(.99c) of light for 5 years when you come back 35.5 years would have passed on earth.

it works on length to which is even weirder. the faster an object goes the more squeezed it become.

If you could take a freeze frame picture of a 1 meter stick travelling near the speed of light it would appear only.20 m long, thats 5 time smaller.

I caught the end of a story on Disc. channel this past winter about a similar topic of time travel...they were saying if we could park a spaceship next to a blackhole, without going thru it of course, and just sit there for a year...when you come back to Earth you would of gained a few seconds...or you would be a few seconds younger than you would of been if you stayed on Earth...idk much about this topic, I just thought I'd share that...it's time travel, just only in seconds...lol...so it would be usless ( not unlike my post )...but it's still jumping thru time alittle

While it may be theoretically possible to travel forward in time due to relativity, it is not possible to go back in time.

We wont be able to move near the speed of light for a long long time so no worrying about going forward in time.
And If people in the future learn to go backwards in time, we would have met or seen someone who is actually from the future, and not batshit crazy.

Calling yourself a natural genius then assuming logical fallacies about time travel is humorous.

Also, I only read the first 2 pages of this post then skipped to some idiots arguing so I have no idea what happened in between.

What big net muscles you have, Junior!

Apparently you have yet to master that whole thread (topic) closing thing. :dunce:

Junior?...

Junior?...

Bueller?

Did the natural genius OP succeed in time travel just to get eaten by a dinosaur?

Perhaps he transported into antiquity to "get to know" Alexander the Great. ;-)

I hate to sound cynical but I don't think it's possible. I'm usually the first person to say 'why not? It could happen!' but not on this one.

Time isn't exactly a physical place you can just return to.

Could you really magically undo ever thought, feeling, action, thing constructed, plant grown, birth, death etc and 'rewind' to a point in time before it happened? Time is a label attached by humans to measure the difference between one instance and others, or the difference between all instances from the first, the beginning of consciously recorded time.

I don't think an elaborate machine can enable time travel any more than everyone suddenly deciding to walk backwards.
