Say i had a plant 8weeks in and the bud is still reasonably small would you take it past the recommended budding time or stick with the programme ? Cheers.

Definitely wait till they're done lol. Flowering times are a reference point but nothing set in stone

I think half the problem is that people switch their lights to 12/12 and think "I'm in flower!!"

In reality it takes about 2 weeks after 12/12 to really start setting into flower to the point you should start counting weeks.

cheers for the advice, sounds pretty logical to me! So you start taking notice of time when sign of flower when ? Start to see hair or when you see the sex ?

My plants are not grown until preflower, so bear in mind if you 12/12 a plant that has already shown it speeds things up a little...

But I will normally start counting days of flower 7 days after the first pistil clusters start forming.

So I throw a naked clone into the tent...

7 days later it shows its first pistils...

7 days later I start counting flowering.

I switch to 12/12 and wait for sex. Then I wait a week for the the first signs of flowering all over the plant. Then I start counting weeks. As stated earlier the estimates of time are more accurate after the plant starts to flower, not just show sex. Usually a week or two after 12/12.
