Ok I have 2 plants that I started from seed. They are just over 1 week old. I have them in hempy solo cups with 100% perlite. I will be moving them to the final hempy bucket soon which will be in 3 1/2 gallon hempy buckets. So I have a 32x32x60 tent. I wanna get a light to finish vegging and flower with. So I was thinking about a 600 watt marshydro led or a 400 watt hps/mh. Would even a 300 watt marshydro led work for just vegging, then buy a flower light later work?

Only 2 plants in a 30x30 tent? duuuuuuuuuuuuude................. wtf

any lighting you've chosen will work, pick whichever you prefer. people veg plants with 23w cfl's. yes a 300w LED will work.

I veg 12 regular seed plants in 8 inch pots under a 250w till they are a foot tall(about 4 weeks), top them, then put em under a 600 for flower. makes for smallish plants but I only have about 6 and a half feet to work with. A 400 watter would be just fine

sorry. They will be in 3 1/2 gallon pots. People tell more than 2 plants in that size tent wont work.

He was being sarcastic, as you didn't specify the unit of measurement... Inches? Feet?...

Did you not make a thread about this yesterday? I'm new myself so understand the decision making isn't easy, but are you actually going to do some real research and make some choices based on that instead of relying on other people? Seems your making a thread for every stage and option of your grow, man.

well I just wanna make the right choice. If a 300 led would work for vegging, then buy a hps light later. That would be fine. If a 600 watt led would work for veg and flower thats great too. If led lights suck, then I should I get a 400 watt hps thats fine. I am just looking for peoples opinions before I spend money.

There are as many different growing styles as there are growers. For me I have a 36"L x 20"W x 60"H so ours are similar but I only grow in soil. IMHO my tent is to small for more than 2 plants unless they are auto strains then maybe 6. So, I only grow 2 plants per cycle. I harvest 3 times a year...but I only need to supply myself and the yields are more than sufficient. I have a journal going if you are interested...not a plug or a thread jacking attempt! LOL!!

I use a 400 w HID with a cool tube and booster fan...the tent is to small to have that much heat and not be able too cool it. My gurlz are only about 1.5' below the light and the glass light casing is cool to the touch. I reviewed and researched for quite a while this time on light source. I spent weeks reading about LED, T5, cfl, and HID. My conclusion was that the available store bought products are way over sold and way under par. I am not handy so I did not want to DIY. T5 seemed a much better idea but with the size of my grow area I would need two 2' fixtures to get the footprint I would want. So, not really enough room for my comfort. So, I went with HID.

But that is my set up and you need to set your own grow up to be fully happy with it. So poke around the forums...tons of great info.

I know everyone tells me 400 watt mh/hps is the way to go. My tent is more square its 32 x32 x60. So should I just get the 400 watt with a air cooled hood and be happy.

The opinions are already out there, but what you'll find is it comes down to preferences and circumstances.

MH/HPS is a fairly common setup, 600watt with cool tube and dimable ballast could work. Gives you more control.

It was not my intent to tell you what to do with your grow...only give you an example of what others are doing in similar but not necessarily exact sized tents. At the end of the day it is your grow. Don't just take my (or anyone else's) opinion and run with it. As I mentioned before poke around on the forums...read, study and make YOUR OWN choices.

If you are going to spend the money for the 400 watt MH/HPS light you might as well invest the extra $20 or so dollars and buy the 600 watt mh/hps light. It will give you a much better yield.

I use a 240w (veg) and a 500w (bloom) LED, both Lighthouse Hydro BlackStars. I think that's enough for 2-3 plants.

LEDs are more efficient and powerful enough to at least give you a decent yield and as good a potency as the plant will give you regarding what a light contributes. HID lights make everything hot and require more electricity for cooling and ventilation, if I'm not mistaken. That said, HIDs are the current standard, for now. I think LEDs are going to overtake them. Unless you're making bank running a dispensary/cannaclub and farm or indoor garden.
