Time To Start To Trim?

I have heard yes and no from different people who have grown with good results. All of my plants are starting to look pretty similar. They are 2 1/2 weeks old, about 6-8" tall in a 5gal bucket under a 600w hps. I have done a lot of reading about the subject but it seems to go back and forth with a final answer of it depends on the plant. So I figured I would post a pic of one of my plants and let you guys decide from what you see.

So what do you think? Trim or wait a little while longer?

Top that bitch! Shes itching to be topped right now...give it another 2 weeks to veg out and then you can see what lower undergrowth you've got going on if you want to trim up the bottom, but with a 600watt HPS you should be fine as it penetrates very well :)

massah thanks for the quick reply, I just topped 2 of the 4 the other 2 did not have a direct center top they were split already as if they had been topped before. Any off shoot can be topped correct?

only trim the bottom 3rd of your plant and all the growth that stupidly decides to grow towards the center of the plant. Thats what i do and it works well on every plant i have.

Massah has it right man. Top that thing. Looks like it already has some good side branching. She should bush out nicely for you. Then wait till you are closer to flower, and decide whether or not to trim the bottom up a bit.

what strain is it? certain strains need trimming more than others. it looks like a mango, and if so id say no just cuz how the leaves grow up

I have no idea what the strain is. I was hoping someone on here might be able to tell me. I can take close up pics if it would help. i realize that getting it 100% is almost impossible but at least an idea would be nice.

well whatever it is it looks good. dont trim it yet except for the topping part. you will be able to tell once it gets bigger what growth is not getting enough light. then you want to trim that stuff off so the plant can focus on new growth/better top bud production. especially when ur budding, trim all those tiny ass worthless buds off the bottom and the rest of ur buds will get all that much better.

but your plant looks like my mango plant. it grows alot differently than most of the other plants ive seen but like u said its really impossible to tell. a better way is how the bud tastes. they have bud taste wheels that could help you narrow it down a bit once u bud out

I asked the person I got the clones from and he says they are either trainwreck or skywalker he isnt sure which ones he gave me. I have had trainwreck lots of times but I dont believe I have had skywalker before.

thats definately not a trainwreck plant. a train wreck gets covered in crystals even during veg and has skinny flat leaves. and the fan leaves have ALOT more blades than a normal plant. my bet would be on the other. just search it on google and see all the stats and whatnot. sometimes they say if it should be pruned or not

how many blades a leaf gets has little if not nothing to do with the strain, more so the growing conditions and size. also a breeders recomendation to top or prune or not is not always valid in every situation....i wish i could grow a plant that gets covered in crystals during veg, jon and kate sound like real pros
