timer help anybody?

Hey guys I just went to my local hydro shop and purchased this timer ( http://www.sunleaves.com/detail.asp?sku=SSDT100 ) and i cannot figure out how to set it. The instructions are on the site and confusing. I can't figure out what hell moving the joint slices down are.

Anybody with experience with this timer please help
