Timing dilemma

Hi folks,

Long story short, I've got the in-laws coming to visit mid July. I figured that switching to 12/12 today would give me enough to to complete the harvest (wish I could veg a week or 2 longer), but it leaves me no time to hang, dry and cure.

So I had a thought and I have no idea how stupid it is... but do you think it would do any harm to fresh freeze everything off the plant then dry and cure a week later, when they've left?

Am gutted - this is the first grow where I've managed to overcome rot issues, and also trained well for a nice even canopy with a lot of tops. I won't get another chance for a grow this year so I'm just having to go with what I've got. However, if freezing before drying will ruin it, I may as well pack it all up now.

Cheers

Thanks for the advice - will just pack it up for now. Was going to do a 48hr dark for transition, and I have Flora Ripen to speed the ending too. It's Legendary OG Punch - supposed to be an 8 week flowerer, which fits my schedule. Thought even if I got half an ounce it would be better than nothing...

@Herb & Suds - thanks for nothing. Do you think I posted the pics looking for compliments? Do you think the post was brimming with pride? Did I not make it clear enough that I was trying to find out if I could make lemonade out of lemons?

Always plan on flowering for ~70 days. Anything short of that is probably early. No 56 is not enough on most strains.

Not sure why you would sacrifice your grow … i had visitors show up , kept grow zipped and just said i am thinking about microgreens …. Seriously. They shrugged and left topic alone.

But if your inlaws are that bad then its a decision.
but there is absolutely no “ bottle “ or ingredients that will push growth like you think. I say run the grow but thats me. GL

its not worth your time man. your asking them girls to squeeze a lot into very little time.
Just kill it now and start over when your family thing is over.

you'll just be wasting power, nutes and time to get headache weed in the end.
i second this. you dont really have time to rush it with quality. even then, true top end quality is never gained from rushing your flower. they will finish by then but youll be lucky to see a yield worth the amount of material your going to waste getting it to that point.

You’ll get fuck all for bud if you flower a little baby plant like that. That thing looks like it’s 2-3 weeks old.

Just saying dude and I feel for you and your predicament, your saying this is the first grow over coming rot issues, but your not even flowering yet so I don’t see how you’ve over come it ? Unless I’m missing summit. Growing takes a lot of strategic planning and we all have to get over hurdles from time to time, you gotta try and buy yourself a few weeks. And tbh you might get a plant that goes 11 weeks which would really mess your timing up. lve never had a plant truely ripe bf 10 weeks, the odd one here and there but most go 11 weeks.

First rot was due to trying bennies instead of sterile. Switched to sterile, no more rot. Defoliated heavily so there was less mass for the roots to support... plant bounced back in a week Last weekend, rot returned. I trimmed back the bigger foliage yet again which is why it's still looking small... this time, rot was due to mould inside the humidifier. In winter I was filling daily, but as it's got warmer the tent has been more humid, as the heater has barely run at all. So, a full humidifier res lasted a few days. I was using RO water to avoid deposit build-up, but with nothing to keep the water microbe free, it got sour more quickly than anticipated. I was checking the ultrasonic plate every few days but the mould was in the chimney housing as opposed to forming on the plate :wall:

The plant is actually pretty well established - if I'd left it to grow vertically (and if rot hadn't cost me 2 weeks) it would be over 18" tall by now. My plan had been to veg for a couple more weeks from here to let all those branches grow a foot tall... by end of flower I think it would fill the tent while allowing good light penetration. Internodes are packed very tightly so was anticipating quite a bit of stretch in flower (40% sativa, 60% indica)

They say you learn more from your failures than your successes - I've failed so much with hydroponics that I've learnt a huge amount.

I know that managing flowering is yet another stage of learning for me to deal with. In fact I've half a mind to continue this even if I do need to end abruptly. If I manage it okay, then when I next have opportunity to grow, nothing will get in the way of achieving a decent harvest.

I have a great relationship with the in-laws and they've been a huge help financially and emotionally during lockdown. The reason they're coming up is because they're taking us on holiday for a week! So whether it be in-laws staying or the fact that I'll be away with them for a week from the following day, I just haven't got the time/opportunity to do what I want on this occasion.

What about running Blumats while you are out of town? I'd sure hate to see you give up. I would enjoy my vacation a lot more if I knew I had some good herb to come home to. Good luck...

I wasn't sure what a blumat was til I looked it up... doesn't look like it's designed for dwc? Or am I missing something?

How long will they be visiting for? just put the plant up in the attic and hide it, and blow the air to the outside world. or even seal it up. if they are only visiting for a couple days the plant will survive.
