Time Flys it seems like this is a week old
I know right!? A month has just flown past.

Looking great! How many tops are you aiming for?
8, (topped 3 times)

I could and should top again tonight. I'm a bit busy for now so we'll see if I find time after the wife goes to bed.

Seaweed has kicked in! Had to give it some plain water tonight.

Pics for today.

Vedge Day 37 PART 2

Hey bud, looks like the upgraded ventilation system is working for you. The new growth is looking healthy.

Good work!
Thanks mate, I only wish you guys could hear the difference brand new fans makes. They're almost silent!

Anyway I had a bit of time to myself tonight so I topped the plant for the last time and put a net in.
I think I might let it go just a little bit longer before 12/12. I still have a hell of alot of space to fill now that this net is in. IMG_1438.JPGIMG_1440.JPG IMG_1450.JPG

To be honest so am I haha, I've never done a scrog before, but with such a small space it seemed like the easiest way to go so it just sort of happened.
Just remember to account for at least 2x the current height after flipping 12/12.

You probably know this but you can use that to your advantage by flowering at the perfect time to maximize your yield

See this is what confuses me with scrog. I mean if I have my net full but all growth is still at net height, what happens?
Should I think of "2 times the height" as "twice the length of the branch" instead?

For an example I put my scrog material as close to the main stalk of the plant as possible, your main branches are pulled along toward the outside of the scrog. As this happens the branches growing along the main branches receive more light and the manipulation triggers branching

I usually move the scrog up to accommodate any unwanted stretching. But you want as many branches above the net as possible. Another thing is most people use the stretch of the first week or so to totally fill in the scrog, so you want to leave yourself enough spaces to tuck tops for stretching.

Yes think of 2x the branch length. And obviously give or take a couple inches. Just be prepared haha

Im jealous of your scrog!! Looks good man, any security issues? Looks like your stealthyness has worked for you.

Thoughts on your grow? Ups and downs.

Thanks for the rundown, very helpful! I think I'll at least go until I can pull the new tops out of the way, then I'll flip.

Security has been fine, seriously no one would think twice about it, BUT I'm not in flower yet. that'll be the real challenge.

Thoughts?
Well I guess you could say this has been a reminder grow. Like feeding and watering.
But I'm also learning a fair bit of new stuff along the way.

Like stress for example. Back when I first started growing, everybody was worried about hermie plants from too much stress!?
Nowadays it's all "bend it, snap it, top it, scrog it, SUPER CROP THAT BITCH!"
Which I must say, this grow is perfect for experimenting with that sort of stuff.

Even with more ventilation heat is a big issue. It's just coming into winter now so we've not had a day over 23*c, but in summer time this box simply wont work without Aircon because we get tops of 40*c+ when the week long heatwaves roll in. Which would send the box up to 50*c+.

I think if I could tell people one thing about PC growing (at least in the vedge stage so far) it would be that you get to know your plant a lot better as everything happens so slowly.

My main concerns for now is flowering and starting the tiresias mist treatments to make some feminized beans.
It'll be a kick in the guts if this thing turns out to be male, but I do have a backup plan, that plan will just end in regular seeds instead of feminized.

Well I hope you get your female plant and I'm glad you think I can be helpful.

I can say stress is a big factor when it comes down to yields. You want to stress the right way and just enough to give them the extra push without causing negative damage. Training, manipulating, simulating winter with cold waterings or drought conditions are some simple ones to push yields and resin production.

I've also read switching back to metal halide or in my case 6500K CFL's in the last week or so will make the plants think it's the end of summer and help finish and ripen.
Another one that I've never tried but have seen work wonders for resin is up to 72 hours of total darkness just before you harvest.

WOW, it's sprung straight back up through the net.
@Good Bud Big , if you look at the close up of the main stem, I think that "branching" you were talking about has already started to take effect.

Whats the white thing on the stick with the yellow string?
It's the Probe to my thermometer/hygrometer, the yellow string is a rubber band holding the probe to the stick which is glued to the top of the case.
This way I can raise and lower the probe to exactly canopy level.

Looking real good man! There aren't any scientific finds that can prove mh puts on anymore weight or produces more resin in the last week or so, but people have done experiments and such. I believe if anything mh in the last week or so would produce more resin because of the stronger uv light emitted.
I don't think mh produces better weight than hps. Also I've done about 3 days of darkness right before chop and I think a shortened light period is WAY better than total darkness. My almost finished plants started pushing out new pistols almost bleached because of not being able to make chlorophyll. So I'm going to try extending the dark period as opposed to complete dark

Yeah bro those little shoots will start bulking up

End of week 3 I'm so impressed by these ladies. Pics are reversed #1 is critical super silver haze
