I recently controlled a fungus gnat infestation by spraying neem oil on top soil. But there are these tiny white bugs jumping around and there are millions of them even floating around in my runoff. Don't know if they are root aphids or springtails. They are so small you probably cannot see them in my photo. Millions jumping around. Looks like carbonated soda.

Sounds like springtails. They're not anything to worry about, are beneficial actually.

Oh, I was thinking they were fungus gnat larvae, but wasn't sure. My veg plants are super unhealthy right now. I don't know if its from bugs or from bad pH. My runoff was 6.7, so I donno

sounds like they are in the soil - need new soil and wash plant's root - replant with a good root stimulator (great white, ect)

That sounds like a pain in the ass. I sprayed been oil on soil surface and it killed all the fungus gnats but these guys are unaffected

OMG, i figured it out. I used Kellogg Raised Bed and i didnt mix any perlite in it. My pots are heavy as hell, all boggy swampy nastiness. A bugs heaven. I'm basically no longer growing weed anymore; instead, i'm raising a bug farm.

Whether springtails are beneficial or parasitic is open (for me ) to conjecture. But yes....you prolly got springtails. If anyone can link me to springtails being beneficial i would greatly appreciate it.

I also have root aphids. Needless to say, I'm using a shit ton of perlite and even going to pur down a layer of large chunk perlite at the bottom of each 5 gallon for drainage.

I had some smart pots I threw out because I grew tomatoes in them and had springtails the whole season. I was worried they were bad and the larvae would infest my crop. Now I feel dumb.
