hey itoke, you put way too much of everything in that homemade pesticide solution. less is always better since you can always add more if you need to. ive tried the soap, vinegar water thing and my plant is still alive.

spider mites = bad
spiders = good
I don't know what spider mites look like, you got any pics of them?

itoke put your solution in a glass bowl - Liquid dish soap .. apple vinegar! and set around plants, I think you'll be amazed on how many you will get, I'm using this method and it's working well for me.

Old thread, don't care.

I found a Web on a plant that was full of tiny caterpillars suspended from silk. It was quite impressive, as I've never seen this before. The caterpillars were white with black heads and inched along for mobility. I couldn't bring myself to commit genocide against all the caterpillar younglings, so after several attempts I used several twigs to swoop up the silk and caterpillars and tossed them into the lantana. I then sprayed the plant and its underside with high pressure water and scraped off a few eggs I found.

I might make a new thread about this part: how can I spray my plant with soapy water etc. and not kill all my lady bugs and mantii? Mantises?

I noticed SLIGHT traces of what looks like spider mites. Do I leave my plants in equilibrium and exercise restraint so that the insect predators can do their job, or do I commit total war and indiscriminately carpet bomb everything that moves?
