Hey, I'm getting ready to start growing in this new space(garage) I've came across and it has no A/C unit in it. I was wondering what are my options when it comes to keeping my grow area cool?
What lamps are you going to be using?Hey, I'm getting ready to start growing in this new space(garage) I've came across and it has no A/C unit in it. I was wondering what are my options when it comes to keeping my grow area cool?
2 1000 watt lamps 12 plants total. 1 light will be on 6 plantsWhat lamps are you going to be using?
I want to say 10' by 10' ..I'm going to vent outside because there's a window that's great for that. Im in Las Vegas,NV so it gets real hot in the summer. Triple digitsHow large is the space? Will you be exhausting the lights to the outside? What will the average summer temps be in your area? Are there any windows in the space?
I'm drafting up a plan for the same thing myself right now, I'm going with a 600w air cooled hid,and 2-4 300W(ish) LEDs, I have a 9000 btu fedders stand alone portable air conditioner to place inside the tent, I will exhaust the heat from the ac out of the tent and then out a window using ducting, I also want to do the same with the hot air from the hood, probably with a y connector, however it gets cold in the winter where I am, so I plan on putting the whole ten up on a raised platform with ducting holes so that I can exhaust the heat from the lights, and the ac unit(has a dehumidifier setting also) under the platform in the winter for extra heatI want to say 10' by 10' ..I'm going to vent outside because there's a window that's great for that. Nice link man thanks!Glad to hear that you get to vent the lights outside, it will help... check out the following.. http://sdhydroponics.com/resources/uncategorized/what-size-ac-unit-do-i-need-for-my-garden
If it were my space, I would set up a 10,000 btu unit, but thats doing a quick stab at what equipment you may put in along with average daily temperatures. You may want to consider running lights through the night if possible to help keep the temps up a little on the cool nights that come up occasionally, plus it will save a few bucks. Maybe even consider a baffle to re-direct the light heat back into the space should you need the heat in the cool winter nights.
Just sharing what I read, sometimes I read way to much and get turned sideways. Always want to see everyone have successful set ups and grows.Nice link man thanks!
If you can do both go for it!, but I've found its hard enough to just control one enviroment, grow area taking the #1 spot for me, my ladder never told me it was too hot or cold, but my red stems haveIm going to have a tent inside the garage to have better control of the enviornment. So is it best to keep the tent cool? Or the garage? Or both?

I thought the same, it's tough controlling one area let alone 2. So basically just focus on keeping the grow room cool.If you can do both go for it!, but I've found its hard enough to just control one enviroment, grow area taking the #1 spot for me
