TMV

So I've just had to chuck out all 9 plants at week 5 in veg due to tobacco mosaic virus. Now my question is, has anyone dealt with this? And if I disinfect everything what are the chances I will get it when I stick some more plants in?

Thanks.

It is a COMMON misconception that Cannbis can get TMV. It can not! (In lab testing for TMV, I have NEVER seen a possitive result in Canna!)
I'll bet the farm that you had Broad Mites (did the "effected" leaves curl one way or another, side to side?).
If they did not "curl", you most likely had a strain that naturally express's that mottled look on some of the leaves.
The Dr. from Green House has that trait and a few others I have seen do too.
Broad Mites are TINY and next to impossible to actually "see" (Like about the diameter of a whitefly leg!). They attack the leaf structure on the "veins" of the leaf and they cause the curl, which is the dead give away to diagnose.
To treat for Broad Mites you treat as you would for regular mites. I would go directly to something like Forbid 4F for these little "suckers".

Sorry for your loss.....
Better luck down the road!

I'm curious, do you have any pictures? I've only heard of it.

Thanks for the reply guys. Nope I have no pictures, all my babies are now in the bin.

I also read something that TMV was a myth in cannabis and it's actually a mite, and yes the leaves started to hook left and right, did I do the right thing by throwing them out? The growth on them really slowed down and where nodes where meant to be growing out, they didn't, so that was my decision to start over.

Looks like I'm going to have to go to the hydro store and buy some bug spray and spray my tent and all my equipment to make sure these bastards have gone.

Sadly, yes you could have saved them by the treating for mites. They may not have come out to potential, but would have run out.
When you treat for mites ALWAYS retreat 5-7 days after the first treatment to get any newly hatched "suckers".
Be sure to spray the soil surface as this is overlooked way to often and is a cause of reinfestation many times.
Dr. Doom makes a bug bomb for mites that will treat your grow area. Use as directed!

I had just potted them into 30l pots aswell, now I have 270L of soil, should I reuse it and treat it, or just buy more?

Dump the used soil and always start with new.
Unless you make your own organic soils and refresh them first.

Yeah I thought that was the best idea, the reason i asked is because I've just dumped a load of soil a few days ago after harvest, and if hate walking out with bags full of shit ahaha.

I dump mine into my veggie garden.....The wife steals it for her flower beds and a neighbor likes it for their veggies too.
