ok gents, ive been growing several years now with dwc. i never change out my rez during flowering. i just keep my ppms low and ph right. plants always looked happy and harvests have always been good. just wondering if im not doing as good as i could be. do you think i would see a benefit in maybe changing the water say twice during flowering as opposed to how i have been doing it with no water changes during flowering.just curious as to what everyone thinks.

try it and keep notes...............i hear it is good to expose the roots to air every so offen to help promote more growth so changing the water waiting 5 10 mins then filling it up again during any time sounds good

It saves money, time, and the environment if you never change your res during flowering. I used to do this, but I try to change my res every so often now just to fix problems before they happen. When I used to not change my res for the whole flowering period, I used to bump into problems I'd have to fix, and that meant reduced yield and funky looking leaves whenever things went off track.

I'm surprised you even tried. I bet a lot of people haven't even tried to go through flowering just making adjustments but not changing the res. If your plants look good, tell us your secrets.

I have been changing my barrel every week because it will run out of water if I don't....I guess I am not sure what you mean by never changing the res...How do you add water and nutes if your res is never changed?...Do you just keep adding fresh nutes and water so it doesn't run dry...If so it would be like changing the res....

my systems is a 20 site dwc. rez size is 30 gal. all together the entire systems hold probally around 120 gals. ive never changed during flowering simply because of cost of nutes and the amount of water im dealing with. i have a dedicated veg room and flower room. i just start out low on the ppms when i transplant into the flowering room. usually start out around 400-450 ppms around 5.6 ph. then gradually raise the ppm to finish around 650-700 ppm and around 5.8-6.0 ph. the strain i use shows nute burn on the leaf tips at around 650 ppm so i just keep it around that at finish. just wondering if a change of water and nutes say maybe half way thru would be beneficial or a waste of money.

Sounds like you've perfected the DWC and we should be asking you questions. :)

That ppm is low for my strain, but if you can keep from changing nutes for a whole grow, you must have the correct formula or something.

Im not an expert farmer by any means..but I do know you shouldn't try to fix what isnt broken! If you want to experiment, just like anything else in life, try it on a small scale first without effecting your existing setup... I change mine out every 7-10 days, due to the fact I dont have a PPM meter and I'm following the GH feeding schedule. My setup only holds 5 gallons though!
