here's another one for you experts. i now have my 1000w m.h. (18/6) about 3ft above my sprouts ( still kinda weary about frying them), my room is stayin at about 70F (it's still cold up here), i have a 16" oscillating fan that is on a timer for about 1.5hr X 2 cycles. this is basically to circulate air and to try to strenghten those little stems. any advice, or is this good?

'wary' is the word you're looking for
haha err..

yea you of course want the air circulation and stem strengthening you're gonna get from the fan, but 70 degrees is a little cold sooo you're in a bit of a pickle, still you need air movement so your ladies continue to get fresh CO2 and such...any way you can get it a little warmer in there?

also how old are your girls? you might want to stay with 24/0 for the first month or so, that might help some

70 to 75 degrees is a very good temperature range to remain in. Run your fan and run it a lot for a while until your plants have strong stems because they will need it when they begin to pack on the weight. If you can place your hand just above the tops of your plants and it remains comfortable your light is not to close. If it is uncomfortable on your hand it will be uncomfortable on your plants.

germinated 2 wks ago, popped through the soil on sat. the only way i could get the temp up is to not run the fan. it's mid30's outside right now. the room is in a detached garage with no heat. so 70F is about what it's gonna be until it warms up in a week or 2. i've had outdoor plants take 40's F for a couple nights and survive. but im new to the indoors. basically i'm just trying to get the stems stronger and keep the temp up, you know, walking a thin line.

1000w on sprouts is too much, get them under some CFLs or regular fluoros....when they've given you 3 sets of leaves (1,2,3 from the bottom up) then pop them under that MH and yes, definitely get some fans on the plants and for circulation. if you aim a small fan right at the top of the plants you can keep the light closer.....if your MH setup has a hood with a vent (like for a duct fan) then def use that as well.
