to flower or not to flower??

I have been testing and setting up a grow closet. i have a plant that is the tester (about 4 weeks old). and i just put down 5 seeds to germinate. I'm at least for now staying with cfls. i dont' want my test plant to get to big before flower time, if i stay with cfls.

i could rig up a second grow spot to veg the new seeds. or should i just keep veg the tester and wait to flower them all at the same time?

i might just get a hps too. and then i doubt it would matter as much. but not sure bout that now.

i bet at second thought, if i have any luck with the new 5 seeds an hps would get me really good weight compared to my wildest dreams on cfls.

what do you think....

well its all up to you man...how big is your grow space? because once you start flowering your plant, as you might already know, it will get 2 to 3 times bigger..that is if its a female, which we all hope for..but looking at your pic it looks like you could let it get a little bigger if you have the space, (bigger plant=more bud!.)but either way I would flower separate from your other plants if your just starting to germ them..but again thats up to you and if you have the space..you should go HPS as fast as you can..you would notice a lot faster and healthier growth than CFL's, however HPS's put out a lot more heat so you have to vent it really well..I ran into that problem with my grow box when I switch from flourescents to HPS..what time zone are you in?

lol i only had 1 big room for my 1 test plant wich turned into a girl, then i got 7 seedlings germinated and sprouted and had major prob due to light cycles, if you are serious enough about growing you will have to accomidate your babies like me, i had to commendere my womans kitchen cupboard, and its going great so far, thats untill my 7 babies outgrow there home, then its time to chuck all my womans clothes out and commendere her wardrobe! gl to me and gl to you if you try the same ill keep yall posted

superman- check out the second and thrid pic. the space is like 4 foot by 4 foot and like 9 feet tall. its outside in an old building. i could do a couple of things with the space. i was thinking about dividing it and veggin in one a flower in the other. or i could just put an hps somewhere near the middle top. of course i could air cool the hps and go with the first plan. i hope to conquer the temps wiht insulation and fans which ever way i go. its all still up in the air.

the point you said though that gets me the most is keep em seperate.. just curious Why???

and i'm in the eastern time zone. and high on a mountain.

Cool man I am up in the mountains of NC..

Only reason I mentioned keeping them separate is cause I wasn't quite sure of your height situation on the box..thats is a really nice size box though.. so if it was up to me here is what I'd do..I would seperate the box in two levels that way wouldnt jepardize your width cause some strains can really branch out..then I would put a 150 watt HPS for flowering in one and a 150 MH Light in the other for vegging.. but I understand cost and getting the lights..so if all else I would veg for now with cfls in one until you can get a HPS..as soon as you do that then swap it right away..then when you go to flower keep your HPS for flowering and use your CFLS in the other part for flowering new plants..it would be a quicker turn around..

also if you are debating good timers go to lowes or home depot and get a digital intermattic timer..they are usually found where the indoor timers are..but they are very reliable..have a back up battery, and cost only 19.99

what strains are you growing?

i dub that. my camera broke and now i'm using my phone. its got such shitty pics compared to what i could have. all well. but yeah i believe you, i just wondered if you presexed it. which i don't really understand how that happens yet. but whatever. so, i guess i'll still think about my options. i doubt i will flower it solio though. how about topping it?

i just read about indica and i'm kinda disappointed. and now that i think about it. thats why i didn't really like the bud it came from. it was a real sleeper.... just one word..TEST!! ha.

yeah, its really a nice size closet. i don't know if you can tell but i was able to put an old screen door i found in the building. i was really suprised when i got done.. i'm stillnot sure what the future of that room will be though. i have a celler that will make for much better temps.. about 40 in the winter and 60 in the summer. im thinking a hps will keep it right on. i have to do some work to it first though. it seems to leak water in from time to time. either way, i will most likely make two outa the one now.

i think weve narrowed it down to an indica. but its bag seed.

do you live near the AT??

BAZ - r u flowering and vegging?

i saw a reference to a face tanner that looked like your shield. was it yours?

I bet it would help if you put mylar all along that wall. you can get some pretty cheap at High Tech Garden Supply but then again, theres things we can all do. its all about $$.. so you say those are 18WATT cfls?
