To hand water in Coco or use Wilma Dripper system ?

Hi, so I am going to plant eventually the plants in 5 gallon pots in coco coir mixed with 25 % perlite.
So is there yield difference if I use timers and chilled water tanks with drippers system rather than
having the pots sitting on the floor in saucers and hand water them, I am not sure in flowering how often they require watering ...
If the plants are in those pots and sitting in Wilmas they need to be about 20 cm shorter because of the tank hight
so on the floor in saucers I can make them about 1,4 meters in height ....so in that size and 5 gallon pots in flowering to maximize the yields how many watering's by hand they might need in peak ...2 times or more ?
Can I expect more yield in Wilmas with more frequent watering's...
The run off is going to be more difficult on not so high saucers...how do I solve that , when the plants are smaller not so hard but when they are big and if I need to pour 30 % run off its going to be difficult...any advise
Or is it just the best to use the Wilma system where the fertilizer water isn't wasted...

Hi Phytium hater :)

I never used a dripper system ! but have done things like flood table and nft.

You should have a higher yield with multiple feeds a day ! but how much !? + the cost of dripper system, timer, res chiller, ...

I now do the same mix as you and water once a day in flo, and didn't see a big diff in yields :)

For the runoff, my pots are in a tray on brick, make a hole in the tray to catch the runoff.

If you have time and money and like to experiment go for the drippers ! if you just want to grow cannabis hand watering will work fine :)

So you have 5 feet of clearance for height. No need for 5 gallon buckets unless you're growing trees, especially in coir.
I feed 3 time per lights on in heavy flower, low nutrient strength (450-550ppm) in 9 liter pots of coir and only run to run-off once a week.

Hi, I have all Wilmas ,timers, pumps ,chillers etc. also 3 gallon and 5 gallon pots, plants are at the moment in 0,66 gallon pots and still quite small, my thought is that if use the 5 gallon pots I wouldn't need to feed them so often if I go for the hand watering way, there is just few pros and cons to consider,,
-Wilma Systems awesome growth easy maintaining and I am used to do it that way,
But the only But is the use of water chillers and the summer is coming so they will be running like
motherfuckers all night,,,,!!!
Hand watering, that's new for me ,pros its quiet...aaah no stress ,
but the cons is that I need to figure out how to collect the run off and this way there will be A LOT of waste nutes,,,I will have 19 big ass plants and if I pour plenty of nute water per pot to make sure no salt build up, I would need to one by one lift the whole plant above a container, where the run off would go,place the plant back on its tray, move on to the next one, and so on ,maybe with the 5 gallon pots it wouldn't be so often,,,,,and last but not least I wil eventually anyway after the summer start screaming my chillers and do hydroponics dripper grow,,,so just thinking out loud here,,,

I would try raising you're pots up out of the wilmas res with blocks, get a separate res and use a pump and timer to feed the drippers, almost eliminating the need for chillers if you can keep it outside of the grow area. you then can use the pump in the wilmas to evacuate the res of waste water. If you time you're drippers right you can eliminate having to run excessive run-off.

Fuckit ,I am going with my Wilmas...fully automated, max yields ,super low maintaining, fast grow..and yeah did I mention max yields ! ,

Last time with drippers my ladies grew like around 3,5 cm a day...it was hard to slow them down after switch they kept growing like nothing happened..

Thats the way to go, so hand watering in pots ,run to waste ,do you use light rail, mini split air con, closed room co2...?

Hand watering in coco is not a problem i do it with my plants in veg, then once they go into there final pots there only bottom feed via auto pots
you are the first person i seen using the auto p;ot system . how would you rate it. my local shop sells them . but i would like a person that using that systems feed back thanks

600 watt hortilux, open reflector. 4x4x7 room, no mover, no co2. A/C in summer only, in a lung room. air exchange every 1.5 minutes.

Dam, game on,,,I would absolutely be jumping up and down of joy with that amount yield, what strain did you get it with...

Do you get 1 gram/watt with your grows...
No i don't dude i get over a lb per plant. But i only do 2 plants per grow,x 2 lb.That is dry cured bud.normally a few oz over 2 lb from the two,i use two 600 watt h-p-s lights and a auto pot set up.

To be honest, i think the only grower's to get grm per watt are the growers growing large amount of plants under a decent amount of light, bit like the set up medi grower has,

1200 gram = 92 oz now that would be hard to get from my room,I think jorge cerventis was the first to come up with this gram per watt thing, years back i have seen a few of his seminars and to be honest he be lucky toget 4 oz dry from some of the plants he shows that he is growing.Just a hype a lot of it to sell products be it books or nutrients,i'm not saying that it can't be done because it can but only by a few that have the space and money to get the room's done in a way they can get large yeilds per plant but also doing a few of them.

I have used everything from dwc airoponics nft most systems but all ways go back to auto pots, grow in them the right way there brilliant, just make sure you get plenty of air into the main res tank, and also a air ring in the bottom of the trays via air ring ,simple fish tank pump.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coco and clay balls or larva rock in with the coco, canna nutrients and a table over them scrog table you can get a very tidy amount per grow, simple to use,let me know if you do decide on that set up i give you a few tips i have picked up over the years, that make a massive difference
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This set up can still be used with soil i have done it with soil and still had good yeilds, along with organic's but more effort is needed unless the tea's are done in some kind of filter ,so that nothing can get into the tubing, very quiet way of growing has no high powered pumps are needed to get the feed to the pots its all done by gravity. You could even do away with the fish tank pumps but it will effect the final yeild

I've used autopots for over 5 years now. Very trouble free, i can leave for up to a week and not worry about watering. Coco and perlite is what I prefer
