Tolerance is too high now

I've been a daily smoker for almost a year now, and have actually gotten to where I almost feel nothing when I smoke now.

My question to you is, how long of a break have you found you need to take to fix this problem?

I see ways of detoxing, mostly to fake drug tests, ie.. exercising, sweating, avoiding fatty food, guzzling water, etc. etc. etc.

Will those practices actually speed up the ability to feel the effects again, or am I way off base?

I'm on day 4 of being clean, and plan to go AT LEAST a week, more if needed.

Bottom line is, what do any of you do to combat this? Is there anything but waiting?

Thanks.

switching it up works for me like razoredge said but if you went a month+ w/o you can get coma lit for a few hours off one bongload of good but your tolerance will be back up in a few days at least for me

after a two year break i went and renewd my script got 1/8 of some 91something cant remember a 16inch roor went home took a small rip and went and sat in the bathroom cause i was looping it ript hard to breathe heart pounding paranoid few min later i was good and just superlit for like 4 hours the next rip got me just as baked but for a bit less time few days later and i could smoke 20x as much and not get as baked and only lasting closer to an hour

yeah you need better weed man. I been an everyday smoker since I was like 12, and in over twenty years I spliffer still gets me stoned man. I guess though if it didnt I'd quit too. Good luck with your problem, but maybe look for/grow better weed.

I went on a cruise for nine days and had nothing for the first time in my adult life... First two days really sucked, but I just kept drinking... On the fourth day I didn't even notice not having cones in the morning... When we got home I had a bong and it nearly blew my head off my shoulders... It only really takes a couple of days if you have grown "immune" to your gear... Switch it up if you have the opportunity or just give it a rest for 3-5 days. I know I can't go that long.. Or else I start to do this....:wall:

I'm in a situation where I'm still 5 weeks out from harvesting my own, so I'm stuck buying mids off of acquaintances. I think I'm going to make a full week off of it and see what happens.

My real curiosity is this...

I've just recently started a pretty rigorous workout routine, even involving playing 5 on 5 full court basketball. In other words, I've been a sweating SOB and intaking tons of water and gatorade. I understand these are steps people take to rid THC from their cells with the intent of passing a drug test. I have to think the same principle applies here, since the buildup of THC is what's causing me to not feel anything, yes? So the inverse must also be true, that removing said THC will help to "Restart" my system?

On another note, have any of you experienced night sweats when taking a hiatus? I've woke up 3 times 100% soaked in sweat to the point that I've had to move to the couch to sleep until I could wash my sheets the next day.

Im shocked you would get night sweats from marijuana withdrawal. I've only experienced nightsweats withdrawing from alcohol (big time) and cocaine (moderately). Marijuana has never given me any withdrawal symptoms except desire to smoke (psychological). Like sometimes I will pull more of an attitude if I dont have a buzz or a buzz to look forward to or whatever.

Anyway, to get back on the thread's main topic -- all you have to do is try new, different, or more weed/hash. I switch up the strains that I get every time I buy -- just so i throw different shit at myself and i get high as fuck. Like, towards the end of a 1/2 oz i just got, ill start feeling that it isnt as effective as it used to be. Then I get the new batch, smoke a J, and im gone.

Also try smoking in different ways. Deep bong rips tend to get you more blazed than picking on a joint.

Quitting is only a temporary solution eventually you will build a tolerance again. Keep changing strains, smoke indicas sometimes and sometimes sativas, use different types of pieces. After you do this enough you will start to realize that your tolerance is decreasing and you will start to get really high from a normal dose of smoke. Reverse tolerance is why your mom get ripped of one joint.

Hey Sandman,

I too have had the same problem. You did receive some good advice earlier in your thread, but I had noticed a few years back while having a few things going on: probation, being overweight and knowing the herb took longer to get out of my system being fat and all. I read online about how the weed took longer to get out of fat people and how increasing metabolism was one of the main answers to weight loss along with watching what I ate, no processed food or as little as possible, drinking lots of water and worked my way up to 8 mile a day at the gym between x-country and treadmill machines. Mainly to get the weed outa my system between PO visits! What I learned was that the faster my metabolism the more high I got on less smoke, which by the way was all I was smoking outa paranoia anyways. But the answer to your question in my opinion is everything you have read od your thread and increasing your meteb. I think it also makes the Herb hit you faster!

I'm not. Been there, done that. I was surprised too the first time I abstained for longer than a day or two. People say that marijuana is only psycologically addictive, but I have found that there are three distinct physical symptoms of withdrawal. 1) Night sweats 2) vivid dreams 3) Feeling sped up or hyper vigilant. I'm not saying everybody will experience these symptoms, but I'm a pretty good example being a 12 year pot smoker. These symtoms are pretty mild and usually only last no longer than 4 or 5 days, but they are real nonetheless.

As far as tolerance is concerned; Many years ago when I smoked a lot (1/8 a day), I experience the same thing, my tolerance would get to the point where I hardly knew the difference between being high or sober :) But, nowadays I typically smoke only one or two joints a day and I have no problem catching a buzz. Less is more with good ole mary jane.

The best way to maintain your low tolerance, is not to smoke everyday..
Or if you smoke every day, then dont smoke all day long.. Pick a time periode in the day to get the buzz, high or to get totally stoned. An hour or two to get there..
and then enjoy the high the rest of the day.. some people enjoy the wake'n'bake and others prefere something like the 420, to have a time to enjoy the smoke 4:20... anyway, Then the next day at the same time, you'll be able to get the same high from almost the same amount of weed..
And then a month or two later take a week of.. This way you'll enjoy the buzz, and still maintain the low tolerance. and a low use of marijuana.

Very good options here on ways to increase your high, but after a year of smoking i find it extremely odd that you are experiencing tolerance issues. I have been smoking everyday for 10 years now... and I smoke quite a bit everyday..... I do come to the point sometimes where I feel normal instead of buzzed, that's when I switch to the vaporizer for a couple of days.. then back to the bowl, bubbler, blunts, etc... It's fun to notice the different high you get from different smoking instruments.

On that not if you have never tried hooking up a vaporizer to a bong with an adapter, rip the bong like you normally would but instead of smoking from a bong you are smoking for a vaporizer.. so you are getting a vaporized bong rip.. highest I have ever been to this day.. and it was off some pretty shitty mids my friend had at the time.

As far as the symptoms of marijuana withdrawl... the only thing that happens to me is after a day of not smoking I begin to not have an appetite. throughou8t the day I will feel hungry, but as soon as I begin to eat and take my first bite I cannot swallow the food, and if I do I become horribly nauseous and want to vomit. :leaf:

thats not a physical addiction, its called being sober. :)

anyways i just reread jason kings article on tolerance the other day he makes a great point that its really weird occurance. The less weed you smoke, the higher you get. Like if you smoke only a bowl a day you will be higher than if you smoke blunts all day...Also I think it was in this article...Your body quickly builds tolerances from certain indicas. Some strains have no ceiling, meaning the more you smoke the higher you get, the ak-47 ive been smoking is good for that. Also i have had some edibles lately and i get giggly stoned off it for about 15 min late at night.
