Tomatoes clones from the vine?

I think the stems will be too far gone.
Unless they ship them living with roots, like the basil you can find in the supermarket.
Or take seeds from the fruit.

I've thought about trying the seeds from them but apparently like weed it would need to be a clone to get the original cultivar.
The idea only come to mind this morning, I've never paid much attention to the vines but now I'll know to keep an eye out for a bit basal/root that would be a real bonus if I could get a piece.

Tomatoes are self pollinating so you'd have a decent chance of getting a true pheno/geno using a seed from the fruit I would think.

tomatoes are probably the easiest garden plants to propagate via cuttings (aka 'cloning')
Tomatoes are classed as 'stem rooted' plants. Roots will form anywhere on a stem.
They will root quickly in water.
If a stem is held against the potting mix , roots will form at the contact point.
They also root reliably using traditional techniques, i.e. cuttings treated with rooting hormone and stuck in generic potting mix.
If you can't root tomatoes you should be searching for another hobby.

Tomatoes are easy to clone and I also do Impatiens in my ez cloner
But I grow Campari tomatoes every year from the seed of the previous harvest and have seen few variations

It's the seed variation I'm thinking of, going past experience with weed it varies from seed to seed I'm going to give the seeds a try regardless but if I was able to root a vine I know I'm getting the original picolo.
Sort of like keeping a mother.
I enjoy the messing around anyway if I get a tomato it's a result, a vine full of picolo would be a epic result!

Before I start a thread on this-
Have you also ever tried cloning peppers in your system?
I have some new-growth cuttings from peppers in my King Cloner, with cannabis.
About 10 days in. Canna has roots, no luck on peppers but stem is considerably thicker... No Clone solutions.
Will definitely try cloning my favorite tomatoes this year!

Hot peppers usually take 3-5 weeks to root for me, and as long as 8, but I just stick the cuttings in a glass of water and keep it topped up no ez cloner.
You can do it with supermarket grapes, and they were shipped from somewhere too.

Wish I could help but this is my first year ever growing tomato's. I got 7 popped and getting ready to plant outside. I forgot the strain, red ones I think? Never too old to try something new since I've got all this used soil from years of growing smokable plants. Pics in a few months hopefully lol.

Thank you! I gave up on peppers. Had some bugs I didn’t want to infect my cannabis, but I imagined patience would have worked, and they did have thicker stems which take longer in general.
Will try again with whatever are my favorites this year. Thanks for the input.
