So i'm wanting grow but the temp's are ridiculous at the moment in
50's and my setup is in a shed with windows
Do you think my plant will have a good steady temp lights on at night and dark in the morning ?

4 cfl's 22watts.
2 Fans

*open box * by window in 50's

Would the plant survive?

how cold does it get where you live? I have a basement that is around 50 degrees. I have a room that is 4x6x6 and its still cold in there while burning a 400watt HID. In fact I am running 2 750watt baseboard heaters non-stop to keep my temps good(holy shit eh?)... so your cfls arent going to do a damn thing for the tempurature and during lights off youll have your temp at 50 or whatever the outside air is. If your going to grow in there, Id suggest having a big HID light to keep it warm during day-time and a heater with a good BTU rating to keep it warm at night. You might be able to grow in there with your current setup but youll end up with a little runt and might as well just go buy a couple beans off someone.

another idea for keeping it warm at night could be to have a couple plastic garbage bins filled with water in there to store heat during the day and slowly give off the heat at night. Im not sure if that would work but to heat a shed(assuming its not insulated) at night with baseboard heaters is going to take alot of juice. Youd want to run a 1000W HID to keep it warm during day and to heat up that much water. keep the lids on so you dont get humidity from them and buy a MH/HPS ballast and an MH bulb for vegg and HPS for Flower. No sure how your going to keep it warm in there when the plants get bigger as you will need to be venting in alot more fresh air as the plants start needing more CO2, maybe you can run a CO2 generator on minimal setting, thatll keep it a little warmer, and you wont have to bring in the cold air so fast. turn it off at night and dont vent as much of the air but keep your fans blowing that air around. The CO2 will put out extra humitidy and youll have to deal with that too, dehumidifiers can bought cheap second hand online but they are a bit noisey. goodluck

My temps were getting pretty low recently (60 day, 50 night). I just wrapped a seedling heating pad around the bucket to keep the roots warm. Seems to keep her ok

There're purple strains that can withstand those temps I think....., but in the long run you'll need an air heater... Yea it's a bitch but also a sweet excuse to seal your room and add Co2 $.$

My purple kush variety grew outdoors with nights reaching -2 celsius in early to late october and they turned out nice although the days were still fairly warm to assist in their growth. The oil radiators are only around 40-50 CDN if its in your budget and they have several setting and built in thermostats , plus they're safer than many alternative heat sources.......my two cents, hope it works out for ya.

yes you will need heat mate, oil rads are the cheapest as can bub said, i had to move mine from under my 600w hps cause it was still freezing in the room even with the light on. low temps will seriously stunt your growth.

Yes welshsmoker the stunting part is true as I just found out, wasn't using a heater because my shop was warm enough a couple weeks back and the little bitches stopped growing almost entirely...grow box was about 65 with 60 humidity. Raised to around 70 and it seems to be working but Im gonna aim for about 75 and see what they do.

keep us updated mate, pulling my hair out here at the mo.

my temp has been all over the show atm, growing in a garage in the uk, the lows are aroung 3-5cel and top is about 40cel, iv added some co2 tablets to help the ladies conquer the cold and move them indoors of a day as they are in 12/12, and over night i have noticed a difference with the co2 tablets, the leaf is growing again. as for strains they are sensi star, kali mist, jellybean, strawberry blue, purple haze and grapefruit. Im not expecting them to take off but i will add some more info regarding the co2 tablets as they only had 2 feeds first being last night. pllus the tablets are only £16/17 as a cheap alternative to the cans.

get a cheap heater with a thermostat and set your thermostat somewhere between 65-75. you're lucky to have cold problems vs heat problems as they're easier to remedy

here's a fairly cheap heater with temp controls: http://www.target.com/p/Holmes-Ceramic-Heater/-/A-12717351#?lnk=sc_qi_detailimage
as long as you're in an enclosed space it will be enough. if you're not growing in an enclosure you'll need a more powerful heater. in that scenario i would get a tent or build some kind of cab. or take advantage of your cold temps and through a 1000watt light in there to maximize your yields and passively heat the shed with the light.

im doing mine and it isnt insulated and it gets freezing out. i keep mine around 70. i bought a little propane burner and 100 pound tank and leave it running on low all the time plus i keep my 1 k lights running constantly that also helps with the cold i just switch out my two flowering plants everyday. it can be done good luck and invest in a 1k watt light totally worth it.

That propane burner is also giving you co2. I got my best yield ever using 1000 watts and co2. 2 pounds from 6 Blueberry clones using only GH 3 part flora series, floralicious, kool bloom, thrive alive b-1, and a hydrofarm megagarden system. The 1K light does make a huge difference

you want to have daytime temps above 70f or 21c night time temps can go down to 40f or 4.5c but it would be better to only have a 10 deg swing from high to low.

yea i heard anything over 15degrees change and the leaves start to wrinkle and will need more water, which i think i see on my purple haze, then again stress can be a good thing for a plant i read in a grow mag?? so it might not be bad in the final product maybe lacking in amount.

CO2 tablets? Is that something like Eno or Alka Seltzer the antacids for gas relief?? Made some ghetto CO2 bottles but would rather entertain an option like these tablets you've mentioned.
