The one thing I've noticed is that my colas don't have nearly as many trichomes as the lower canopy....its weird I would think that closer the light to the flower (without burning them) would cause more trichome production
Well, you not only have different light intensities at the top vs bottom of the canopy, but you also have different spectrums, as many of the shorter waves get filtered as they pass through the canopy (higher ratio of red towards the bottom). That said, if the tops are stressed by too much light intensity, those buds will under-perform. That's similar to the issue I have with aforementioned strain.
