Too much watts for this 15x15x40 grow?

Was wondering if an optic 1 xl 100w would be overkill for a grow size of 15x15x40 inches

I was thinking of dimming it to the lowest setting at seedling stage and up it accordingly, along with lst etc.

Would that be sufficient enough power or is it overkill? (Supposedly 100 true watts)

With the measurements that you provided I'm a little concerned about light penetration with your walls being so narrow and your height being so tall. You have very little room for training so your plants will grow straight up creating a lot of foliage from your canopy to the lower parts of your plant. I personally would be heavily defoliating if I grew in that space.

I was thinking of having two cabs same size and growing one short strain in each. heavy defoliation and this technique called manifold. Worst case maybe put a cfl below as well?

I absolutely would put a light source of low heat below the canopy.

thanks for the reassurance guys. only have 4-5 grows under my belt and downsizing to an even smaller setup, wanted to make sure im not wasting my time

How do you define a waste of time? Going through all that effort and at very best a good harvest would be a couple ounces of dried bud. I am not sure that would be worth the effort if you are in a legal location or worth the risk if in an illegal location.

Id be content with that, my previous grows were 4 plants and averaged 1-2 oz each. As long as I dont run into mold issues and can secure a few oz ill be happy. Might make a journal and keep you guys updated as i will be trying few new things this time. (Soil, manifold technique, etc.)
