Even though I switched from hydro to dirt about 8 years ago I remember that TP'ing into hydro requires you to place the roots downstream from the stem. If your reservoir drains from right to left you want to make sure all the roots get placed to the left of the main stem. That is easier if you keep a half-full 5 gallon bucket of water with you when you TP. Gently swirl the roots in the warmish water and pull out straight out of the bucket. Roots should be all running the same direction and easier to place properly.
