I grew some bag seed and it turned out to be a huge sativa weed. I put them into 12/12 at 10in now the are at 50in and have 4 more weeks to grow. If they grow any more the top buds are going to burn. Can I top the plants to save the lower buds? or will this shock the plants? Ive trained them all i can they just keep growing.

I too am having this same problem.. Some of the white hairs are beginning to dry up and turn brown already and I'm only 3 weeks into flowering. I hope someone can shed some light on this dilema.

in small grows you don't have the luxury of vegging long. you need to be lollipopping or using lowrider strains. the sativas and hybrids are leggy biatches. you can top them but you'll lose the main colas. and stress can be severe this late in flowering too.

just grow to the side of the light as WingHunter said
as long as the light gets on the plant it will keep growing
your now a vert grower :)

no shit but I'm going to loose them to the light if i don't cut them. it was just bag-seed i didn't know what strain. I was just testing out a new grow space and system i built but the buds look so nice that i want to save what ever i can and finish budding them. next will be a sog of cheese. only 1 week veg instead of 3 this time.
But any advice on how to save these buds would help thanks.

I cant let let them grow around the light ether i been training and doing that the past two weeks. i had to put the light up in the rafters cause the plants are touching the ceiling. They are a huge extremely thick bushy monster. so help

well then i guess you gotta move the whole setup to where you have more head room :)

No, I wouldn't top during flowering. The plant has to revert it's energy to repairing itself instead of producing bud. It could also make it herm on you. You could bend your plants if the light is too close. Topping your plant now will pretty much dick everything up.

no topping at this point. you can either tie them down or crush the stem to the height you want. with your thumb and index finger, start rolling the stem back and forth like it's a, well, a booger, LOL! the stem will lose it's ability to stay upright. do this with all the tops that are too high. i would only do a few at a time. too much could cause too much shock and herm the girls...
