Here's some pictures of my attempt to Top my plant. I like to barely cut anything off to allow the plant to be continuously growing.

How many cola's did I get? 2 or 4?

Whatcha guys think about it?

i'm a first time grower and I was to scared to top!! I waited to long before it even crossed my mind, they were already like a foot tall... I love my babies to much and I couldn't hurt them... next grow i'm gonna top half to see the results campared to the non-topped plants... anyways happy growing!!

Yep, you'll have 4. You got lucky though, with those center ones, because usually when you top them when the top is so small, the two shoots don't form, or don't form correctly. Next time let it grow a little more, then leave about 1/4-1/2 inch stump there after you cut the top off, and then they'll grow every time.(almost)

I get nervous and cut when it just "feels" right. I cut my superskunk I'm growing a couple days ago, but not sure yet how many I'll get off it.

If you wait a little like i suggested, the top will always split into two branches when you top it. On the rarer occasion, it could split into 3 or 4, but that doesn't happen very often, but that's a different story. When you cut it really early like you did, sometimes it mutates the plant and it will only grow one top, or no tops at all. Then the side branches have to take over and make up for the damaged center. It's best to wait at least 1 extra day if you have to, in order to leave at least 1/4 inch stump where you've topped it. That way, you are guaranteed at leas two tops, each time you top it.

P.S. I know it's hard to be patient, but trust me, it's always worth the wait.LOL

If you are after four tops, the best bet, is to top using Uncle Ben's method. Wait until the plant has four to five nodes, then top an inch or so above the second true node (you don't count the single bladed leaf set that came first). Gaurenteed four tops, every time. The thread is stickied in the Advanced section, if you're interested.

I've read through that, and it is good sound advice, but what I'm doing is trying something new and documenting with pictures. I don't knock the Ben method, but me personally can't stand to cut a good 2-5 inches off my plants.

I'm experimenting in my garden, I have one LST, one topped blueberry that had plenty of veg time, and I just topped a superskunk and the next day put it on 12/12. It's an experimental headstash and fun to boot! With pictures!! :)

Thanks for advice

UB would be proud of you experimenting. I topped 3 of my ladies in my first grow, and left on untopped. My second grow, I have one fimmed, and 4 untopped. Im looking forward to seeing what type of yield results I get at the end. Ill know in about 2.5 months what the results are :)

Im gonna add you as a friend, and hopefully you can let me know your results when done as well.
