Topping Practice Plant.

i'm growing just a bag seed outside just untill i get all my indoor stuff up n ready on my shopping list was cutting liquid/powder and came across some at a shop for cheap so thought i would give it a try its called ''take root'' http://www.multicrop.com.au/accessor.htm <-- found it on the net. anyways on the instructions it says ''cuttings should be 50mm to 150mm long with an end growth diameter 0f 10mm or less'' i wanted to top my plant and use the top i cut as a clone could this work
it wouldnt be the size stated on the package more of 3 cm long and 4 cm end growth. what you think? sorry if this makes no sense what so ever.

It can work. Best clones are from the bottom of the plant...at least that's what I have found

it will work but like stated above clones taken from the bottom root easier cause they have more hormone

speaking of clones laced23z i have a chesse at the mo, before i had phatty fruit - barney`s farm but this chesse i have took a couple of cuttings, from the bottom but im having trouble with them starting to take there are no roots, but on the barneys they took within days but the cheese seems to be taking longer any suggestions?

some strains are way harder to clone than others more picky or what not make sure ur rootzone for ur clones dont get to cold or hot keep ur water fresh or how ever u take clones hang in there u will get it down

you would be lucky to get cutting material at 10mm.
Use lower branches. Topping cuts can work but less chance of success..
Count 4 nodes down then cut at 45 degrees, 6 mm under that with a sharp razor blade.
Remove the 2 sets of leaves above that cut. Cut them off where they join the stem.
Get it straight in the rooting hormone then straight in the medium as you can get an air-lock in the stem otherwise.
The height doesn't matter as long as there are 4 nodes.
I too had no worries with Barneys, getting 100% success with VK. It also had nodes at about 6mm, so my clones were little over an inch.

thanks. i will have to let my plant grow a lil first. can i dip it into the rooting powder then straight into soil? i see that alot of people have rockwall cubes or something. i dont really have acsess to them but i will go down to my garden shop to see if its worth it.
