Topping Question

I was wondering, when topping, where exactly is the cut made? I've seen pictures and read descriptions but none of them were that great/quality pics.

Do you cut right below the main growth point at the top, and make the cut directly on the stem below that top growth point? Or do you cut like half of the little growth at the top off, and leave half of it?

pull the smallest top leaves apart and pinch off whats between the leaves

Cut off the main stem, but leave the growth coming out of the node. Those nodes are where your new growth will come from.
