Topping start of 3rd week of flower

I just veg them too big for my area I have I guess. This was supposed to be a short run because I keep vegging them too big, this is an every grow problem I have.

Plants are into the lights again and I have been down this road before and it just sucks. Anybody top their plant at the start of week 3 flower. ? So what happened if you did? Hermie?

Lights are at the highest setting. Yes i know bend them over but that just bunches the branches up all bent over which gives you crappy yields just like letting them grow into the lights.

I have little pea size buds forming but I am thinking just go down each branch that needs topped find a nice spot and top a foot or so or more off these plants and just say start week 1 flower.

The side branches of the plants wouldn't get touched much , basically leveling off the canopy week three flower.

Whats going to happen?

After ...their already creeping back into the light or just straightening up idk but I think topping these was the right call.

Ime, topping beyond week 2 usually stops all vertical growth on that branch and just grows two flowers at each end of the cut.

Right on... My yield has been taking a nose dive for the longest time... like cut in half from when I started growing. I have been trying to figure it out. I think its because I get them too big and they just choke themselves out. If they were outside with the sun it wouldn't be a problem obviously but inside it becomes a problem.

Time to make sure your ballast are still operating the same, clean hoods,fresh bulbs, check tap water report once again ect.

I had a bad ballast that gave me horrible yields, it worked so I had no idea besides that it would blow a bulb every 4 months.

One day this ballast smoked & almost set my roof on fire, I replaced it and yield/spectrum was day & night for me, the ballast even ran a lot cooler. Just one of a bunch to consider when you take large hits with hid grows.

If you haven't replaced the bulbs for a few cycles that's a contributing factor. Glass in the hoods will cost u 10% and that's if they are sparkling clean.

yeah your right whenever you take a hit in the yield department bulbs are the first thing to look at.

I got new digital ballast not too long ago and this run I put in new hortiluxs so that wouldnt be a factor in my search for the reason of the low yields..

I clean my glass all the time, I know about the loss because of the glass, I always had glass in this grow room so am used to it.

I use r/o water and that aspect is ok all within limits and monitored.

I have watched the bulbs when it turns on a few times they look like they start up equally and seem fine to me, I have to think that I just get them too big and that is what is screwing me, so I topped them.
