most strains can be topped anytime in veg stage some take longer to start regrowing is all patience is the growers biggest ally good luck
FIM stands for Fuck I missed. the phrase was coined by an anonymous high times reader from south carolinain the july 2000 issueof the magazine. the technique became legendary on www.overgrow.com ever since the grower wrote " This pruning technique could revolutionize indoor gardening ". The south carolina grower tried to pinch off the tipp of the plant and said " Fuck I Missed " when he did not remove the entire bud and coined the accronym FIM and that is the FIM technique Enjoy!

If you push the leaves apart at the very top of the plant you should see a small bud (not flowering bud but an actually leaf bud). Use a pair of nail clippers to pinch off about 3/4 of the bud. This should result in more than two top colas being developed. In a single FIM clipping you can produce up to eight new top colas. The origins of this technique are humorous. As the story goes, FIM was discovered accidentally when a grower messed up a topping exercise. FIM stands for: Fuck I Missed.

A cannabis plant forms branches that shoot out of the node were fan leaves are produced. nodes with fan leaves will produce the best branches threw photosynthesis. When you cut off the top growth of a cannabis plant it's past hormons that were flowing to the top of the plant and re administered into the new side branches. The best time to top is during Vegg period to allow it more time to recoop its self from a stun period but it shouldent be longer than 2 weeks, check your PH if its longer. A cannabis plant has a code to made the distance between the nodes the same but when geting to the top growth it seems to get smaller, but they extend while vegging, your going to cut it in between the two top nodes making sure only to cut the new development of leaves not the developed ones. After the plant has been cut you will see the new branches forming, look for a tiny ball at the intersection of the fan leaves and the node. after 2 to 5 days you should see 2 sets of single leafs that will eventually be leaves connected to the branches, the top two branches will become colas instead of branches with flowers. if properly handled its possible to make your plant just cola bud but it takes prunning and fine care.
all the bud i have grown is outdoor organic so it might very on indoor for the times of recoperating have fun and top away.

Next time bend them over, you'd be surprised how quickly a cola plant turns into a good bush good for a mother or for a scrog'r...
In my experience the shock from taking off a top is far more time consuming than bending which is very little to no shock at all while accomlishing the same job. Maybe topping is good when you want a really good healthy cut to restart a mom from it. be patient though, she'll come around. 7-10 days or so.
