Topping

What strain is it hun?
Some are really touchy about being topped or tied - the breeder info usually will say so if it is an issue.

Topping is a matter of preference--
the longer it grows before topping, the further up the plant it will branch...
sometimes too high-up will make the fork of the plant the weakest point, and when buds get big, the plant can split there-- so you cut it lower and use the cut-off portion as a clone (bonus!)

Often, people "FIM" (F**k I Missed) by pinching out the new growth at the very top of the plant and letting it go from there-- but it appears your plants are too tall for that now-- but you could do that to the "clone" you cut from it....

IMO- cut the entire top off- right at about the height of the base of the neck of that bottle, as it appears to already be a bit streatched between those points, and that top is definately big enough for a clone....

again-- JMO, and you should check the breeder info before ya cut her!!! ;)
Good Luck! looking good!

If you decide to top, head over to the Advanced Cultivation forum and read up on Uncle Ben's topping for 2 or 4 main colas.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Normally it would be fine to top them now. But since its budding, I would leave it alone. Less chance of stunting the plant when it counts. Why are they budding so early? not even 4 weeks old outdoors? Shouldn't have those little nugs yet unless its an auto.

Do you know what strain it is- or was it bag seed? It may be an auto-- but you said 8-9 hours of sunlight...
gotta ask, do you just mean it is more shaded the rest of the time- or do you move it?
You COULD be forcing it to flower if you are taking it inside after only 9 hours of light.... if so...leave it outside...
it will yeild better and get much bigger.

And since it is budding (Duh- my bad... didn't notice that for some stupid reason) no-- do not top it!
But DO start giving it a bloom nute-- justt he ocean forest won't be enough in another couple weeks.... so now is the time to decide what you want to use... a liquid? A top Dressing?

People here are real good at this part-- never hesitate to ask... and if you need a nute-chart, I have them for many of the 'easier to find" brands if you need it.

;)
