Brilliant saying and very true. That's exactly why I plant 4 seeds (freebies) more than the final product needed, when I want 12 healthy plants for instance. If I want 2 plants, I sow 3 and keep the best. A seed is nothing when you NEED two plants that are healthy. I need 12 every 3 weeks, so I drop 16 seeds. One or two will fail on germination, and the other 2 might be healthier than what I originally desired, but healthy plants win in my book, so I have no problem culling the herd. That is where the saying came from?
