Total newbie in need!

:leaf:So, okay, I want to grow, obviously. I know NOTHING about planting. I am actually more of a "black thumb". That being said I am determined to grow bud, its just so much cheaper than paying loads of money for okay pot. I'd rather just grow it for myself. I have a large collections of seeds I have been saving for a while and I want to start growing.

So if you guys could maybe direct me to some good sites or just maybe answer a few questions for me....

:leaf:What type of soil do you use? Is it mixed with anything?

:leaf:I need a grow spot that can be as unobtrusive as possible, and the easier to make the better.

:leaf:Is there a mixture to put on the plant? How often, how much?

:leaf:Lights....? Yeah enough said.

:leaf:There are different stages?

Oh, and it would be great if I didn't have to order online. I prefer store shopping, and in my area there is Home Depot, Lowe's, Wal-Mart, and Ace Hardware Stores.

Yeah so as you can tell, I am pretty clueless. Doesn't help that I have never used a forum. So be nice please and anything said to help me will be greatly appreciated!

Just look at some grow guides, they will tell you most you need to know, then if you still have questions, ask again

Like Ben said, you've got some reading to do.. normally I'm all for answering questions, but if I answered all of these, I'd essentially be writing a full grow book, and I'd just be re-writing all the information already available here.

What you need to do, is to go through a few grow journals.... just go to the main page of the forums, scroll down until you find grow diaries/journals, I forget which term they use here. Pick one that is getting the results you're looking for, and that is using a similar space to the one you plan to use, and begin applying their methods to your own space. That's the easiest way to go about it, and if anything goes wrong, you can use their journal as a guide (and even ask questions.. most people are happy to answer questions if relates to their grow, and especially if it's 'bumped' their journal thread, lol :) ).

use the search function first... get some knowledge then make a thread. Why waste peoples time when there is every possible answer about growing on this forum alone.

Get some brains then start messing with weed.

It's important to remember that most of the folks who are assholes online are only assholes because they are scared little punks in real life. Thick skin is necessary in dealing with some of the presentation methods found.

There are signatures at the bottom of folks' posts with links. A lot of these are to journals. The journals appear to be the best way to gain useful information. Take some time to read through the journals. If you find someone who has a delivery style that you find appealing, ask them questions. That builds up a little rapport and allows a sense of community. Also, your questions get answered by folks who have a little time vested in interaction with you.

The grow journal section on this website is invaluable. Click on the rollitup icon and scroll down to grow journals. Ps don't post unless relivent.:-P Check mine out its in my sig i have a easy to use grow technique. You can ask me anything im cool with it;-)bongsmilie

Try germinating in a glass of warm water. Drop a few seeds into a tall glass of tap water from the kitchen. Let the seeds sit in a dark warm place. Most should pop over night. Change the water out each night for stubborn seeds.

Drop the seeds tap root down into some Jiffy Pellets. You can get those pretty cheap from the dollar store this time of year.

Use CFL lights for your garden. They are your typical energy efficient house lights. They work great since they fit in any fixture you have around the house. Read about them. They come in many colors or kelvins. Shoot for 3000k and 6000k.

High nitrogen Lower phosphorus lower potassium during veg
lower nitrogen higher phosphorus higher potassium during flowering

simple.

go for something organic.

Time release fertilizers are often difficult to use, I'd avoid them.

get something water soluble and practice watering and watering with a nutrient solution

water, feed, water, feed, repeat as a basic rule of thumb

just start growing and killing them like their pet fish.

you over feed and they will die, if you under feed, you will see that they are hungry and run into fixable deficiencies.
