Tracking IP addresses

Anybody ever wonder, if its possible to track IP address through different web Weed sites?
Even though I use aliases, I know a IP adress can be tracked to your front door. After creating an account
with Medical Marijuana blog, that the link just appeared in my aliase emai account , it got me thinking, is it possible we
could be ratting ourselves out. I know if Big brother wants to he can monitor anything, since the Patroit act was implemented.
If cell phones calls and texts can be intercepted, why not server signals?
I know when we signed up for rollitup, it has a legal diclaimer, but since when does the legal system follow the law
Anyway, not saying, just pondering.

You should google "tor" if you are posting here and not using it you should be.

Ohhh and google "EXIF GPS data" if you really want to worry about big brother.

of course its possible. but using a website does not prove guilt, unless you are running a Journal.

most internet evidence would never hold up in court. because it would have obviously been illegally obtained.

I don't know what you mean by "server signals" that could be intercepted. Of course the forum content is public info, so since that's the only "signals" that are being transferred, it doesn't matter. The log files that are on the server would have to be stolen, but the logs don't have your IP address in them anyway. And we take every security measure to protect our server files.

IP address can be pulled from a post. It would, at best, give a general location like a city. Tracking it to a house? Possible but difficult and there would be no reason to bother.

I still think the danger of posting on a site like this is not that they will find out who is growing weed and where. It is if you do get busted for other stupidity, and you have been posting pictures and boasting, that will be used as further evidence against you. I never post a pic of more than one plant.

You're exactly right on the ip address tracking. All they can get is a general area. And that is often skewed due to internet service providers having overlapping areas or sub-contracting out to each other. Anyway, it's tough to get anything precise with an ipi.

If you're already in trouble this could add to your problems if you posted incriminating evidence AND they were aware of who you were.

Agreed!

the best they can get is the nearest hub where the main ISP goes to and then branches out to your area (fuck forgot what they're called)

Plus if you have a dynamic IP address that just bounces around anyway, not to mention without it most computers change IP address anyways just less frequently.

Suffice to say the internet is pretty safe if you don't go around publishing your name and address etc OR making an account for something 'dodgy' (like weed growing) with an email address that has your real name etc.

Just be sensible, use common sense and everything will be fine

Thatz why I dont put up more pics man... I am always leary of the what if's and all that... It sure does suck to have to live in a world where growing any plant, especially such a Holy and sacred plant such as Kaneh-Bos'm, or Cannabis, is an "illegal" act... But, when a higher power, for me, Christ, is the one behind the whole thing, I treat it like I do everything else-I put it in His hands, and don't let it bother me, and continue doing what I know to be the right thing to do-which is to GROW IT!!!!
