transition from veg to flower

Hey guys just a quick queston

i've been growing my clones for over 4 weeks now and my smallest is about 10" while all the others are over a foot, i've started LSTing under my T5 to make the most of it...

so i'm waiting on a 400w HPS to get here in the mail (thought it would be here already) i ordered about a week ago so i'm not trippin, but i'm wondering about the longest i should keep it in veg, like 6 weeks?

any advice would be appreciated, :joint:*puff puff, pass

You can veg as long as you want.it just depends how high you want your plant.its up to you when you want to start flowering by switching
(12/12).if you want a 3 foot tree veg untill then.if you want a decent plant quickly dont flower before they reach 12".indoor growing is when you decide the plants future.

i have about 5 feet indoors its a little over 6 square feet by my calculations, 5 plants under T5's and all are over a foot, maybe a foot and a half by now some of em, cept the one i transplanted late is still 9" ish is there gonna be enough room in my closet if i let em veg for 2 more weeks?

yea sounds good i was thinkin thats what i would do anyways, i'm just wondering about LSTing now how well they're going to balance when they get bigger but that's something i guess i'll deal with when i get to it

They are going to double or triple height after 4 weeks of flowering. so if they are 2 feet, some may get to 4-6 feet. plan accordingly, they don't like to touch HPS bulbs.

how close can i get them to the light? i just got it today, set it up and have it running with my t5's for the next few days i'm gonna wait until the smallest one hits 12" its about an inch off. i have it about 2 1/2 feet off the plants right now wondering if i can move it a little closer as they get used to it

also its gettin pretty warm in there right now i have a fan going and its not airtight or anything but should i maybe go ahead and get some cO2 so they can stand the heat or jus tkeep the door cracked..? the 400w hps really heats things up

try not to let the temp get over 90F, the plants won't grow well and the buds will be fluffy and unsubstantial. You can get the light inches away if you have glass between and good ventilation. otherwise I wouldn't get them any closer than 8-10 inches. put your hand at the top of the plant and feel the heat, if its hot to yer hand its too hot for the plant, raise light.

yea so a couple feet it is, yea i guess i'm just gonna have to mostly keep the closet door open while i'm vegging for the next week or so, it should be better once flowering starts. hmm shoulda bought a light with glass then oh well, got the cheapest 400w on high tech garden supply (only 150 after shipping) so i guess that'll have to keep me goin till another harvest. hopefully i'll have funds by then...

With a 400 W HPS you can achieve 10,000 lumens @ 2.25 feet away from the canopy. In regards to your vegging, that would depend what your expectations are. Want a monstrous plant that can give you more yield. Want to do a SOG veg time less with more plants.

yea monstrous sounds pretty awesome, but i've already been veggin for 5 weeks and i don't think i have the patience for but one more... still hopefully that should be decent.

thx for the info on the lumen'ss at 2 ft away, i figured as much cause the light is bright! but it's good to hear it isn't just my dumb assumption

oh yea, i have em in something like 2 gallon pots...theres gotta be a limit to the growth will the be able to get 3 or 4 feet in containers like that?

hah alright damn 2 feet away it is.

yea i will definitely be using larger pots next round, but i can still get up to 3 or 4 feet with 2 gallon pots no?

i think 3 gallon pots should do it, but i might as well do 5 gallon pots right? no such thing as too much room right?
