Transitioning from 24/0 to outdoors 14/10

I'm getting a lot of diverse answers so i'll ask here. No guesses, please, heard enough of those. Looking for guidance from those that actually know.

- Question; what's the best least stressful way for me to cut back from 24/0 to just daylight? 14:43 today and lengthening.

- 40 days from seed, no pre sex yet

- been getting half outdoor, half indoor lighting, 24/0

- last two days, 12 hrs sun and 4 hrs indoor lighting, 16/8

- about to step up from 3 gallon to 5 gallon and will determine sex in the pot, then plant in well prepared planter, 16" deep.

- one or two will be pot grown outdoors and put to bed indoors for earlier crop

- 100 degrees here and rising, very healthy plants picked for their desert breeding

- all organic

Thanks

first of all why the hell are you not letting those plants sleep! do 18/6 from now on buddy! you have enough light to put outside, you want at least 14:15 to put outside

At this point just put them out now. Get the plant to adjust to new lighting one time. No point to tone it down to 18-6 if your just going to put it out in 14-10 a week after that. Putting it out now will get the plant to choose its sex too. Next time don't do this lol plan your grow for maximum yield. :)

I sometimes run 24/0 veg, it seems to keep the internodal spacing tight. They don't stretch as much during veg with no dark period, power bill is higher though lol. You will be fine cutting the time outside.

I wanted to get a heavy veg and root prior to putting out in the desert climate. Not clear on what your suggesting to do next time. I might just keep them outside tonight to start the next stage. Thanks.

I don't have a problem with it as a very well reknowned breeder does it, etc. I'm open to someone scientifically explaining the negatives without the dogmatic hyperbole. I have seen other plants other than annuals, such as trees, exhaust themselves but I don't see a problem with it...

I just chucked all the plants that were slow to sex outdoors for a week or so, only 2 males out of 9 yeaha.

I would think just as important as the light concern, is aclimitising them to similar humidity levels as outside.
Its winter here, so everything is nice and damp, even though the sun has been shining mostly. Such a beautifull time of year.

Nice. Hard to argue with 7 for 9.

They are very acclimated since they spend half the day outdoors and it's just as hot and dry in the garage where they go at night. It's been about 5-10% humidity lately and they are looking great. They will actually have better night conditions as it is down in the high sixties at night and a little more humid. Sure will be nice not having to lug them in and out every day.

I would recommend starting them at 18/6 if your looking for strong root structure next time. If you go 18 hours for foliage vegetation (lights on) and 6 hours for root growth (lights off) your plant will grow fast and have a beautiful root ball. Also use felt pots or super root pots for maximum root growth. When you feel they are ready to go out into the wilderness the 4 hour time change wont cause as much confusion as going from 24/7 to 14/10 in your region.

Its a good thing to start them inside, just plan for your regions daylight hours. Good luck:weed:

I hear you. I'm probably going to be in for a surprise when I try some other strains or seed companies. I shifted from 4" to 3 gallon and in three weeks they were lightly root bound so right now I'm not worried about good root development! I should have repotted in two weeks but kept telling myself to hold off. Hopefully they will slow down and pre sex since they are now only outdoors because they are only in fives and will be needing a shift very soon. One to two weeks tops.

IDK, depends on your particular genetics, but the strain I've been running for the last 3 years will go right into flower with a 14/10 cycle. It is a pure Indica.

I count on it since I do a spring crop and have one going now. Won't be ready till the middle of June, but these, so far, show no signs of re vegging due to the longer days and neither did last years crop.
