Transplant in the morning or at night?

I transplant every plant, auto and photo and have never paid any attention to time of day or plant schedule. Since all are under 24/0 lighting,it shouldn't make any difference. IMO, the usual problems are poor prep of receiving container and watering...pointed out by Michi-can...
Personally I use the double solo cups for germ and seedling prep and trans at 7-10 days. The inside solo cup is trimmed and cut to facilitate transplant and never disturbing the root ball. Moistening the receiving pot along with a little mycos is a good habit.
Most important part is proper and timely watering...and that applies to all stages.
Even autos? How are the results xplanting vs starting in a large pot? I currently have one auto forgotten cookies going right now but I started at 5 gal pot from germination. And I’m on 18/6 tho

Michican offers a great set of tips!

The only thing that is critical imo is to make sure if there is soil below your transplant that you pre-wet it. Its very hard to water under a transplant after it is done. I personally believe you want to water the transplant into the new pot pretty quickly, so I wet the bottom below the transplant, do the transplant and then water them "together". But Michicans way may be even better, I could not say.
That’s actually a really good idea. I will keep that in mind

Not even once? I was gonna reuse them one time lol but they are vegging in 6inch plastic pot right now moving into fabric. And wow that is a huge plant.
I'm in the same boat as @RadicalRoss - I just had to wiggle the cloth pot as I pulled it down to get the roots out intact...no real issues.

My "Air Pots" were the easiest for transplanting but cost led me to switch. (That and I had fungal gnats going in the holes on the side during an infestation and realized that much exposed soil probably isn't good)

Yep, I grow mostly autos, always with a photo alongside. I've germed in everything 1 gal and smaller...now germ all in 12 oz solo cups, prepared for easy trans to a 2-3 ltr final pot. Smaller pots are easy to determine watering needs and I've never seen any deficient regardless of size...
After trans, I veg all for 3-4 weeks under T5HO 24/0...then to a flower tent of qb + cobs on 12/12....yes even autos...autos CAN handle more light but they don't require it. Percentage of yeild increase does not equal percentage of cost increase to grow it.

Amazing looking. Any issues with timing to harvest and the cold weather or do you have it down at this point?
Keep good air flow with trimming and spacing between plants. Look for insects or early browning buds. Cover if it is going into the 30"s. A cheap dollar store plastic drop cloth works. Just tie it down and remove Daily. Learning a greenhouse. I know nothing at this point. And my outdoors were a gamble regardless. Don't like the weather here? Wait a minute. Enjoy the pursuit. Good for your health.

I hear from different sources that autos are sensitive to transplant and it’s essential to minimize the stuff you do to it like topping and xplanting and stuff. I guess that’s not really true?

I definitely wouldn't top an auto...or at least not more than once. I don't know if I'd say they are 'more sensitive'....more like less forgiving if you mess up or do something that stunts the growth. Unlike a photoperiod where if you mess up you can veg longer and fix it...autos just do their thing and have a finite timespan.

It is true for all but some really good or lucky people. Minimal input with autos. Hands off. The method I described above would be my route transplanting. Preferably start in the finishing pot. Dig a hole the size of a "D" battery in the middle of the big pot. Fill it with 70% coco/30% of your soil. Plant seed or sprout in that. Low nute, high air medium to get started. Then it is in the good stuff when it is developed enough without you mauling it. I like photos. More pliable.

So rest of the pot except that hole u just made and filled with mostly coco are soil? I’m using mix of pumice bit of happy frog and mostly ocean forest. But that is brilliant for my situation cuz I hear that OF and HF is hot for seedlings

Yea it's a solid technique- haven't done it with cannabis but I've done container tomatoes like that. You can also use plain pro-mix surrounded by a richer soil...it's just perlite/coco/peat moss with a beneficial bacteria innoculant and does amazing for starts

By all means, mix ya different mediums together so you have something to blame on the failure. Works every time.
You should peruse more auto friendly forums to understand the MYTHS that seem to confuse new growers.
I transplant every plant and top most especially those that are known stretchers. My proof is 15 years of growing CANNABIS....not tomatoes.

So you do top your autos? Just like you would keep topping photos? Have you actually had the same genetics and topped one and left another alone? And see the difference? I am a newbie at this but I have been researching reading and listening a lil. And I want to eventually do all the test and research of my own. Of the stuff I hear or read.

When I'm running a new strain of autos, I top one and let one do it's thing. Autos have changed over the years and get taller than years ago so I've found most must be topped. Just ran several double strains that all yeilded within a few grams of each other regardless of top.
I usually top at the 3rd or 4th true node (bout 3 weeks old) just like photos I grow. Never have an issue that has me changing anything. 20200919_093541.jpgHere's a pic
of 3 different strains that were all topped....front...fastbuds purple lemonade, middle, mephisto ghost toof, back is mephisto double grape. all bout 60 days....in 2 ltr pots of bio bizz light mix. 20200919_093541.jpg All grown in a tent but moved outside for pic.

Damn that’s just in 60 days?! Nice.
I got one mephisto forgotten cookies going. It is def ready to be topped but I don’t think I will and see the results first. If it was just few grams off for your situation.
How much was the total yield per plant tho?

So do you amend your soil or give nutes?
sorry for asking too much lol
Just curious of what every one else is doing.
