transplanting & grow box dimensions + CFL lighting. LONG POST sorry

I have just repotted my 4 babys into bigger pots, I changed the soil for a branded soil mix, I damaged the roots of the biggest 1, but I think she will be fine , shes a fighter.
Should I keep my current lighting schedule 18/6 CFL 100w (actual wattage).
I have heard you should pull the lights away about half the distance it is from the plant but I can't see why this would be good?
Anyway my plan is to have 2 grow boxes, 1 veg and 1 flowering. With 2 plants in each.
I will be using CFL lighting in the veg and HPS multi spectrum in the flowering room.
I want the boxes to be as small as possible, my flowering room can be the size of a standard uk door H & W.
What area would I need for both boxes and what is the ultimum lighting for each box,
I was thinking of 400w for the flowering room, but have no idea on the veg.
I want to keep the veg box as small as possible currently I have 2 plants in a fridge, the area is about 75cm high, 55cm wide & 52cm depth, I think this will be to small to prepare 2 plants for flowering.
I don't plan on doing any scrog, etc, as I'm a newbie, I will start with topping once I feel I am ready.
A few questions I'm sure have been asked 1000 times.
do you really need a dehumidifier
are c02 generators worth the risk if you get it wrong
I want to have a carbon filter on the exhaust of the flowering room can I vent it from the box into the room the box is in.
any help or advice you guys can give will put me on the right path .
Thanks

Sweet dude!!! I've got 400w hps for flower and 400w cfl for veg. Keeps me high :hump:

Don't worry about co2 until you're "dialed in" to your grow, your plants need a very specific environment in order to take advantage of your efforts.

Keep a fan blowing on your cfls and they can touch fanleaves without damage. I held a 24/0 cfl in my hand (been on for 12 months straight) without the slightest bit of discomfort. I'm a big fan of cfl vegging, they're cheaper than dirt and the cheapest of the cheap work really well for veg. :leaf:

thanks man, Thats why I,m going CFL , I was wondering about having 4 plants in 1 space and just use the HPS for the full cycle, but I think the space needed would be to big.
I will leave off the Co2 for now.
Do you think keeping the lights on 24 makes a diffference to the plants, I would think this would stress the plant as it does'nt get a rest , but I have seen pics of plants vegged under CFL for 24 on and they look good?
I don't really want to rush the grow as I am learning and would like to get somthing from it, I will not be flowering until they are about 18" tall or later if I think they could wait.
this should cover the height I have for the flowering room.

Concerning the 24 hr light period... a dark period does nothing for your plant. People love to equate human physiolgy with pot growing, but the two are completely different. "You need to sleep therefore your plant needs the same thing", for reasons that are scientifically unsound, untestable, and unsubstantiated by fact. Cannabis won't experience any stress under 24 hrs light, as long as conditions are optimal.

In short, 24 hrs of light is fine for vegging MJ. :)
