Transplanting outside??

I'm needing some advice. I started some plants about 3 weeks ago and they are looking good. I have them on 18/6 light cycle. The weather is starting to get a lot warmer in the Kentucky area and I was wondering when would be a good time to transplant to the outdoors? They are around a foot or a foot 1/2 tall. I got the seeds from a friend, so I don't know what type they are. I have done lots of research on what to do when transplanting but don't really know when to do it. Should I leave the light cycle on 18/6 or slowly work it down to 12/12? This is my first grow, so wish me luck... Thanks

Go ahead and put her outside now, if you have to wait for any reason just keep lights at 18/6. The plants do not get shocked going from 18/6 to 12/12

Hi. You can transplant them outside now. Because I've had some start blooming on me in the spring after I put them out once I recommend that you try to match the outdoor photoperiod before you put them out. Which is 14/10 (Light/Dark) right now. So put it on 16/8 for one week and then 14/10 for one week and then put em outside. And then there's what they call "Hardening off".

Check out my outdoor grow! I put em outside on April 24th

Good luck!

How many weeks would you all recommend the veg cycle to be? Should I add some fertilizer when I put them outdoors? If so what kind? Im really excited about taking them in to the wild, but it is scary at the same time, there are so many things that could happen to them. How many feet should I dig down to give the roots plenty of room to expand? Thanks for the advice...

Well, when growing outdoors you don't have any control over the veg and bloom cycles. They start blooming in August when the length of days get shorter (13/11, 12/12). If you were growing indoors however I'd recommend that you veg 'em for about 8 weeks before blooming to prevent Hermaphroditism or intersexed plants. There is a trick to get your plants to bloom in the spring however by starting them indoors under 24 hour light and then put them outside as early as possible (April 15). But I don't recommend you do this because it compromises yield and can cause other problems.

Yes you should Fertilize them when you transplant them outside. You can use Miracle Gro plant food it works great for the veg cycle. Use this when you transplant:

and then use this once a week afterwards:

and then use something like this for bloom:

http://generalhydroponics.com/site/index.php/products/supplements/koolbloom/liquid_koolbloom/

or if you want to go organic then try these:

just break up the ground around your plants a few inches bigger than the pot you have 'em in now. And bury your stem an inch or 2.

I was thinking about just transplanting them into buckets so they would be mobile if I needed them to be. What do you all think about that? What type, or how big should the buckets be? Where could I find some cheep buckets? I have been slightly reduicing the light cycle and trying to get them outdoors for a couple hours so they won't go into shock. Do you all have any other suggestions? Please help me...;)
