Transplanting soil seedlings to hydro, can I do it?

Got some seedlings I want to switch over to my hydroton, how would I go about doing this? Want to move them to my waterfarm?. All help appreciated.

I'm not expert, but I'm sure I have read on this forum people have done this. You have to be very careful with the roots when cleaning it if it has rooted already, if not then it should be easier. I'd either stick it straight in the hydroton or in a small rockwool cube which you can then put in the hydroton. Like I said, I'm no expert, but this is from what I have read. Others will give their input I'm sure. All the best with the grow.

Do the roots handle it OK when you drop in the hydroton on top off them, or special nutes?

Why not clone the one in soil and put the clones in your waterfarm?

I guess i could someone is giving me small clones, so just soil grow those and clone them if I get you right?

You can most definitely do it man. Just take your seedlings and shake off as much dirt as you can. I took two clones rooted into solo cups full of soil and just rinsed/shook off as much dirt as I could. Don't worry about getting every last piece off it won't happen. Believe it or not you can be a little more rough with roots than people tell you. I'm not saying rip them apart or anything but don't be afraid to do a bit of handling. I took my roots and put them in the bottom of net pots and buried them in hydraton. I then ran a shitload of water through to flush out any more loose soil which actually worked well because I had to add hydraton to refill the space in the net pot that the dirt left open. I didn't use a top feed and the roots found their way down to the water in days...the mist your airstone creates will keep the hydraton/remaining soil wet enough for root growth to occur. I was a bit skeptical at first but figured screw it ill give it a shot. The plants in my post in the dwc section from today were transplanted that way if you'd like to take a look. I have taken plants that were growing in soil and switched them to hydro,I gently washed off the soil then put the roots to the bottom of my net pot and filled it up with gravel(I use very small river rock its used in fish tanks also)set my water level so that it was about an inch away turned on the bubbles and in a few days I had roots coming out.you may have to top water also just until you get roots out of the net pot I did 2 times a day until I got roots growing out of the net pot,also you will want to keep the nutes on the low side until the roots take off,I think I had mine at 400 ppm and gradually worked up to 1000 ppm and ph at 5.8 water temp at 65 deg. good luck

I just switched 5 clones I got that were in soil to hydro last week. I filled up two buckets with warm water and softly dunk each one in removing the soil. After most of the soil was gone and the roots were exposed I dropped them into hydroton. Make sure to wash the hell out of your hydroton so you dont have ph issues. Hopefully in a couple days you have roots shooting out of the bottom and they dont droop too much. Dont feed them any nutes for a couple days untill you know they transplanted successfully then start with a 1/4 strength
