Trashcan Grow

This is a pretty ingenious idea, so i gotta hand it to you, even if all didn't go smoothly, and I think you harvested too soon.

Why not raise the garbage can off the ground - they make carts with wheels for these things - and then air cool it pulling off the top into a carbon filter? I can't think of a way to seal the lid to the light, but if the only air intake is in the bottom of the tube, it may not matter much...

The tube is sealed at the bottm, I fill the can with 1 inch of water when away. The top of the can has form used to seal a window, blocks all the light.
I harvested early becuase I wall going away for 3 weeks and wanted a week to start the cure. I will do this again but a oz will last me many months now that I got a vaporizor. I still have a quart mason jar full of bud unopened:-P. I am downloading firefox to upload photos, IE 8 just dont seem to work.

the lights are hooked up with a power cord from a pc. I put black to the gold screw and white to silver screw on the first socket. I took the green wire and put it to the cover ( drill hole and use screw and nut. Then run a second black and white to the next socket. Now you have two black wires under the gold screw on the first socket and one black wire on the second. repeat for white and next socket. Then I placed duck tape over the screws, if the screw or wire touches the metal cover then zap. Thats why I hooked up the ground, a quick hit of the breaker and your set.
The sockets were from HD, only $1.50. The lights bulbs were HD or where ever they were cheapest.

good luck.

This is the light tube I had in the middle of my grow. On the bottom is a 12v transformer for the fan. The unit is water tight on the bottom. With it water tight I could flood the can when needed. The buds which grew up against the tube were much nicer than the ones on the outside.

25k is just a 18 watt cfl that is not real white. When you look on the side on the bulb you will see 65k - 20k 65k is white and 20k is yellowish

CFL are just the engery saving bulbs. There is a whole forum on this site about using them.

My can is empty right now becuase my jars are still full from round two. Round two I got a couple of zzz and just dont need any for a while.

I like the trash can, very reflective. One thing I noticed is your bulbs are mounted vertical, those CFLs put more light out of the sides so mounting horizontal is optimal.
