Treating water supply with air? Does this work?

I saw on Jorge Cervantes - ULTIMATE GROW DVD that he treated his water not only through reverse osmosis but he put it in a large trash can with a pump of some kind blowing air into it. Can anyone tell me the advantages and perhaps what kind of pump would be sufficient to do such a thing, perhaps a aquarium pump? Anyone know cost? Comments blow up please?!?!

adding an airpump & airstones herlps keep the nutrient solution properly oxegenated, which is great for the plants/roots.
size of airpump depends on how big your rez is imo...

i like my rezies looking like they are boiling from the airpump/stones

hope this helps you some

What size Aerator for a 64 gallon trash can? How many airstones? Does this treat tap water, or would reverse osmosis system be better? They're only like $150, I'd like to have one anyway I suppose.
